I believe all behaviors make sense if we seek to understand the context in which they were created. Through this lens, I work primary with: couples and who feel stuck in a cycle in which one of you reaches for closeness and the other pulls away. You both want connection but end up feeling unseen and lonely. As well as, Individuals from adolescence through middle life who have experienced traumas that contribute to a general sense of not-enough-ness. This is often paired with a fear of being different from others, pervasive shame, and discomfort in interpersonal relationships although connection is deeply desired.
The couples I work with are at all different stages. You may notice that conversations escalate quickly or shut down entirely. You talk about the same issues again and again, yet the real hurt underneath never quite gets touched. One of you may feel like you’re asking for too much, while the other feels overwhelmed, pressured, or never quite enough.
I am an active therapist in the room, which means I like to provide psychoeducation when appropriate and gently challenge my clients to see things from a different perspective or dig deeper. I am passionate about working with those with C-PTSD and couples where neurodivergence is present and am sex-positive, polyamorous, ENM, LGBTQIA+, and kink-affirming.
