Are you tired of walking around on eggshells, hoping and praying things change? You feel stuck in your relationship, friendship, or job that is not healthy for you or others? You know things need to change but aren't sure what to do? Perhaps you see dynamics in the family you grew up in that you'd like to be different in your own family. It could be that you've reached a point in life when what you've always done is no longer working or getting you what you want. You want to feel hope and strength to make the changes you see are necessary.

I'm a goal-oriented therapist and want to work with you to set clear, achievable goals. Sometimes our past gets in the way of working toward present goals. We may discuss the roots of the pain you are experiencing now, but we won't stay there. We will find small steps that work for you to move toward healing, reconciliation, and building the life you want.

I specialize in working with families as well as those who have experienced traumatic events in childhood. I love helping parents learn new skills in nurturing their children. I am trained in a type of trauma therapy called EMDR as well as a family therapy called PCIT. Send me a message if you have questions, or call to schedule.

Laura Salazar's Groups

Becoming Known

Becoming Known is a therapy group for girls ages 13-17. The group provides a safe place to explore issues such as anxiety, depression, perfectionism, body image, self-esteem, relational difficulties, and identity development. Sessions contain a mix of process oriented discussion as well as skill- based learning. Participants are expected to be involved with an individual therapist and will play an active role in working toward individual goals. The overarching aim of the group is for girls to "become known," both by oneself and others.

Boundaries

Boundaries is a 10 week group based on the book Boundaries, with discussion facilitated by a Marriage and Family Therapist. The curriculum provides biblically based ways to say no, set limits and still be a loving person, and stop letting people take advantage of you. Group members will read the Boundaries book between sessions and use the Boundaries Participants Guide during group discussions. If interested, please contact Laura to register.
