I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with ADHD, mood fluctuations, managing emotions, problematic behaviors, as well as anxiety and depression. My approach in working with children/youth is to include families in the therapeutic process as their best and highest support. My goal in working with clients is for them to have a better understanding of themselves and have the necessary tools to make adjustments for improved growth and development. I also work with parent(s) to strengthen their parenting skills and reduce conflict in the family system.
I have received advanced training for Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) at the Anna Freud Center in London with a special concentration in working with children/youth and families. The focus of my doctoral research was using this strength based, attachment oriented treatment with children who struggle with emotional and behavioral concerns.
It is difficult and often confusing when your child is experiencing challenges with their behaviors and mental health. Often times, the struggle can feel lonely and isolating. As a therapist, my goal in working with families and children is to demystify mental health symptoms and provide coping skills and strategies that promote growth.
