About

I specialize in loss, trauma, family/relationship issues with children, adolescents and adults, in English or Spanish. I use integrative, strengths-focused, evidenced-based therapy. This means I believe that humans are inherently resilient, and in particular contexts, our once healthy coping styles may suddenly prevent us from returning to our normal functioning. In therapy, I urge clients to learn to experience and tolerate emotions and access their instinctive coping capacities to build flexibility. This method allows clients to uncover their strengths and deepen their sense of hope, leading more vital, exuberant lives.

I am formerly an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, and Attending Psychologist at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I received my Ph.D. from Columbia University, and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at New York University School Medicine /Bellevue with 9/11 first-responders. Fully fluent in Spanish; I practice bilingual therapy.

I founded Q-TOWN, and specialize in therapy with gender-expansive youth, teens, adults and families. I typically meet with clients for a minimum of once weekly 45-minute sessions. For children and adolescents or with couples and families, additional family meetings are scheduled as needed.
