I have extensive experience working with individuals, adolescents, couples and families who desire to enrich their lives through personal relationships they have with themselves and others.
To be human is to understand that in life "pain is inevitable, suffering is optional." Sadly, most people experience suffering too often in their lives. This suffering takes many forms...anxiety, depression, addictions, self hate, instability, procrastination, emotional disconnection with yourself, just to name a few. Exploring the beliefs and meanings we are saddle with from childhood are keys to ending suffering. Increasing awareness of these beliefs and meanings are what psychotherapy is all about.
It takes tremendous courage and strength to reach out for guidance. Each person has developed a set of beliefs which shape their world. These beliefs influence your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Together, in a safe environment we explore the blockages getting in the way of knowing how to truly take care of yourself.
The focus is on increasing ones' awareness of belief systems and identifying the beliefs connected to the suffering experience. This is done through the lens of compassion. Real compassion doesn't coddle, nor does it shame. It sees people as whole and completely adequate to their life. I offer a 20-minute complimentary phone consultation.

Laura Carr's Groups
Moving Through Resistance -Paused: waitlist option
The aim of the group is understanding ourselves better in relationships. This group is not a class. It is experiential in nature. We will focus on relating to one another and take a closer look at our internal dynamics, relational patterns, and defense mechanisms-i.e. all the things that stand in our way of authentically relating. We will connect by sharing, taking risks, and offering support. We will stay present to our emotions, learn how to listen and communicate more effectively, and practice managing and repairing conflict. Ideal members are those seeking more self-awareness and better relationships.
