While many of us face similar life challenges, the ways in which these experiences impact us varies greatly. I strive to tailor my therapeutic approach to the needs of each unique individual, couple, and family. I utilize the process of mutual exploration of issues that stem from the past while staying rooted in the present issues that prompted the decision to seek out help. In times of crisis, I shift into a more active role and focus on skills coaching and managing stress. I provide individual therapy to adolescents, adults, and older adults and have experience treating families and couples.
Because I have training in both acute and longer term settings, I am experienced in helping people deal with acute crises and chronic dysfunctional patterns of being in the world. I am equipped to treat individuals facing major life transitions, working through relationship difficulties, coping with grief and loss, and living with chronic health conditions.
My approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship and integrates modern psychodynamic therapeutic approaches with cognitive behavioral therapies (3rd wave). I have experience working with individuals coping with acute and past traumatic events in addition to people diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety-related issues, and first-break psychotic episodes.
