I help couples and individuals clarify their values and identify sticking points as they navigate the close relationships in their lives. For those who are newly married, or navigating parenthood with young children, I help couples strengthen their communication and speak to each other in new ways, helping them stay on the same team as they grow their families. It's important to me to be fair and to help everyone feel heard. I use a direct, pragmatic approach to help you identify underlying issues and make them better. Sometimes this relates to the present, and sometimes it relates to the past.
In individual work, I’ve worked in college and graduate student counseling for many years, and I’ve developed some expertise in life transitions, including transitioning out of school, navigating high-pressure jobs, and addressing complex workplace issues. I also enjoy working with people who are transitioning into parenthood.
Some people meet with me for shorter periods to solve a specific problem, and some work with me for many years. Sometimes people start working with me on one issue, but over time, the issues change and deepen, and it's meaningful to have someone who's been through it with you.
