I specialize in individuals going through difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and adults with ADHD .
In a marble carving class my professor once explained “You don’t get to tell the marble what to do. If you embrace it in its natural state the marble will reveal its form to you.” Meaning, no matter how hard one tries with a chisel and hammer the natural properties of the material itself will determine how it can be formed. This is my approach to therapy. To accept each client exactly as they are and allow them the space to choose and direct their own growth.

My specialties are disruptive behaviors in children, adolescents, and adults that stem from ADHD , autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, OCD, depression, and family strife.
I enjoy working with children and adults in a personalized approach tailored to each patient's unique situation. My theoretical background is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, play therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, but I pull from many sources in creating a treatment plan. I enjoy tackling diagnostic puzzles and working closely with patients and families to get to the bottom of what causes disruption in someone's life. Most consider me direct and no nonsense. I trained in Exposure Response Prevention for OCD treatment in both children and adults and enjoy these treatment challenges.

As an experienced School Counselor, I have extensive experience in child development, anxiety, ADHD and peer relationships.
Raising a child in these uneasy times can be frustrating, confusing, and scary, and it’s okay that you’re feeling like you could use some support. As a counselor and “feelings expert,” I create a safe space for your child to explore emotions. I use play, art and activity-based approaches to help your child talk and play through their uncomfortable feelings. I love to sit on the floor, draw, build and have fun with children to help them open up to me. For your older children, I use activity-based therapy and talk therapy in session.

I have an extensive background counseling individuals to help them resolve issues such as Mood Disorders, Panic Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD , Grief, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Truancy, Maladaptive Behaviors, and other Clinical Issues.
I view counseling as a collaborative relationship between the client and the counselor. This collaborative relationship allows the client and therapist to work together to address issues the client is facing through the development of mutually agreed upon clinical and personal goals. During therapy, I focus on patterns of thoughts, behaviors, moods, and communication that may contribute to client distress. I often address these issues utilizing Person-Centered, Systems, Cogitative Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (evidenced-based therapeutic practices).

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for a New Orleans ADHD therapist, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counseling in New Orleans.
