Trauma leaves us feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from ourselves and others. You may be fed up with constantly being triggered, feeling lonely or disconnected, or maybe just unable to be yourself. You might not even remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to manage your triggers. You’re ready to form meaningful relationships. Most of all, you’re ready to be your true, authentic self.

I'm a community specialist for spirituality, social work and writing. Believer in magic of food, support and inclusiveness. In our work together, the therapeutic relationship is a foundational building block for healthy neighborhoods we seek to forge and maintain. I'm focused specifically on mental wellness in cultural humility, food justice, modern approaches to service and volunteerism, and adverse childhood experiences research (ACEs) and its effects on collective health. I use a collaborative process that assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the options and services required to meet needs.

Life is meant to be lived fully! Anxiety, depression, shame, or painful past experiences can hold you back. You may feel stuck or sense life could be better but aren’t sure how to move forward. Whether you’re seeking personal growth, deeper self-confidence, freedom from shame, or more fulfilling relationships, there is always hope. As an EMDR therapist, I help individuals process trauma and emotional pain to promote healing and lasting growth. In addition, as a Certified Daring Way Facilitator, trained in Brené Brown’s work, I guide individuals in building shame resilience and cultivating courage, vulnerability, and self worth.

You're struggling to manage your emotions and connect with others. You feel stuck in cycles of anger, overwhelm and sadness - perhaps this has started to take it's toll on your day-to-day life. The good news: you don't have to navigate this alone.

Are you a Christian woman burdened by fear, clouded thoughts, or feeling out of touch from what used to bring you joy? Do you have uncomfortable memories holding you back from peace? Do you long to feel joyful, stronger, and deeply rooted in your faith and identity? Or perhaps you and your partner are stuck in what feels like the same fight and distant from each other; but ready to build a marriage/relationship that feels passionate and life giving?

I believe that the counseling process is a journey between the therapist and client where we collectively develop a treatment plan to address areas of concern. Although each person may enter therapy for different reasons, my intent is to identify and work toward goals of the client becoming a happy, healthier and well adjusted being.

As a mental, medical, or veterinary health professional, it's hard to reach out for or accept help. Despite your best efforts, on-the-job or personal traumatic experiences are limiting your home or professional life in ways you can no longer accept. Trying to avoid haunting memories, anxiety, sleep problems, or depression is exhausting and just creates more problems. You may be unsure what you experienced is considered traumatic, yet it continues to interrupt your life. If you are tired of suffering and ready enough to try a different approach, you're in the right place!

I work with a variety of clients and am committed to each one equally. My focus is on the overall mental wellness of individuals according to each’s own unique needs; I am well-versed in theoretical orientations and multiculturalism. I engage with clients based on their individual needs, as each case is just as unique as the client(s). I work with the client(s) from their perspective and help them work towards their chosen goals. I navigate the client to achieve smaller, accomplishable goals that then create a building block for larger, more obtainable long-term goals while giving the client autonomy to enhance self-growth.

How are you?
It’s a common question, but one we rarely answer fully. How do you feel about your life, your relationships, and yourself? If you’re navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, or relationship challenges, you don’t have to go through it alone. I offer a safe, supportive space where we can begin that healing process together.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
