How engaged are you with life? How do you relate to those around you? These are questions I explore with my clients by allowing our
relationship
to guide the process. As Irvin Yalom very well stated, "Therapy should not be theory driven, but
relationship
driven." I am a firm believer of this sentiment; and will accompany you on what I believe is an on-going journey towards self-growth. Through a therapeutic
relationship
that is safe, genuine, and caring; I aim to guide my client towards insight that makes a path towards change, understanding, and/or acceptance more feasible.

Barry Pilson
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, PhD, LCSW
I have been a psychotherapist for 25 years. I see adults and adolescents. I do not see children, 11 and under.
Psychotherapy works best when the process seeks change. The focus of change needs to be delineated through a collaborative
relationship
between therapist and client.
As a Ph.D. I understand the importance of applying evidence based methods and staying updated in relation to the current state of knowledge. This underlies your effectiveness as a therapist.
Fees are reasonable and customary. I am on most major insurance panels.
My office is in a safe location. I am the sole occupant.

I am a therapist who specializes in trauma, grief, addiction, codependency, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and self-compassion. It takes such courage to reach out for help, and I want to make this experience as safe, non-judgmental and empowering for you as possible. If you feel stuck or lost in the same maladaptive, dysfunctional patterns, perhaps together we can foster a
relationship
for growth. Perhaps Cheryl Strayed said it best, “I’d finally come to understand what it had been: a yearning for a way out, when actually what I had wanted to find was a way in."

Due to the unique needs of the client, I form a system that will show immediate growth potential and allow the client to better understand the root causes of what is troubling them. My system is simple, every experience you live through shapes you into who you are today, just as your experiences can shape you, together we can retake control and reshape you into your best self! I specialize in trauma, grief,
couples
, and family based counseling. I am confident that with the right attitude and proper support, together we can achieve anything.

I am known for my expertise for my research and theory in the biological basis of personality;
relationship
skills and communication; and helping people to reprogram self-sabotaging beliefs.
I work best with healthy people who want to take their life, relationships, goals etc to the next level. I prefer clients who are committed to honesty and enjoy exploring their fullest potential.I use many different types of therapy including Gestalt therapy. Gestalt therapists work on helping to reprogram self-sabotaging patterns and belief systems. This work can be applied to improving relationships, health, motivation, goal achievement, and self-actualization. It is a very gentle process and results are fast and dynamic! I am also trained in Psychedelic harm reduction and integration.

Kelly’s intention as a therapist is to create and maintain a trusting, reflective environment in which her clients can explore their cognitions, behaviors, feelings, and values. Kelly works from a person-centered approach, with the understanding that all clients and their experiences are unique. Kelly also considers the “systems” in which each individual is a part of. Together with her clients, Kelly will help expand the individual’s awareness of their identity and how each experience has influenced their mental health. Kelly believes that the therapeutic
relationship
is the most significant component of the healing process.

We work with adults and
couples
to assist people with choosing solutions that help them improve their relationships by changing their behavior. We help clients look at their situations and problems as opportunities to explore their choices to work toward staying on track by meeting their goals in order to enhance their lives. We aid people in finding solutions for their problems instead of focusing only on the problem. This is a clinical outpatient setting and we help clients address all disorders listed in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual, 5th Edition - Text Revision (DSM-5-TR).

Living life to its fullest and achieving true happiness is something that you deserve. Many people struggle with depression, anxiety, issues with their identity, and traumatic events that hold them back from achieving the most from life. I believe that in working together with the client through challenging negative thought proccesses, identifying problem behaviors and problem areas, and searching for the ideal place that a person wants in life, we can successfully get you to that healthy and happy place that rewards you on a daily basis.

Feeling stuck, out of sorts, off balance? Maybe you have an issue you'd like to tackle or have no idea why you are feeling this way. I believe you are the expert and view the counseling
relationship

Hi, I’m Eric. I believe the foundation of helpful therapy is a trusting and supportive
relationship
. I provide a safe and compassionate space where clients are encouraged to gain self-awareness, while honoring the strengths and values each person brings with them. A process of exploration into your own experience - of thought, emotion, sensation, and behavior - can empower a greater ability to make conscious, creative choices toward personally meaningful change for a more fulfilling life. Gradually, this process can transform the way you relate to yourself, others, and the world.

The choice of a counselor is an important one. It is my belief the
relationship
between the therapist and client is the foundation for successful therapy. My goal is to provide clients with a non-judgmental, empathetic, genuine and collaborative environment. It is within this environment that one can strengthen self awareness and become empowered to begin making positive changes and choices which can improve life experiences.

relationship
struggles, and things we want to change or do better. Also, we all want to be heard and understood. I think this is one of the most important things in counseling, along with having a strong client/counselor
relationship
. I offer nonjudgmental, down-to-earth counseling to help clients identify their objectives and goals, while developing a treatment plan to achieve same.

Counseling can appear to be overwhelming and intimidating. However it does not have to be this way. As we seek validation and acceptance in our lives, there are certain paths that we must take to find them. I believe one of the most important things is for people to learn how to get along with other important people in their lives, such as friends, spouses, siblings, relatives, co-workers, etc. Additionally, I strongly believe that the fundamental
relationship
between a client and counselor is to foster openness, trust, and personal growth.

I focus on the therapeutic
relationship
and believe that this is the foundation that makes meaningful therapy happen.
Raising a child in these uneasy times can be frustrating, confusing, and scary, and it’s okay that you’re feeling like you could use some support. As a counselor and “feelings expert,” I create a safe space for your child to explore emotions. I use play, art and activity-based approaches to help your child talk and play through their uncomfortable feelings. I love to sit on the floor, draw, build and have fun with children to help them open up to me. For your older children, I use activity-based therapy and talk therapy in session.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
