If going to therapy is somewhat fearful, you are not alone. Must people do not know what to expect. Scientific research shows that psychotherapy works. Therapy can help you feel more comfortable being the real you. The goal of psychotherapy is not to change you. Change is your choice. It is to help build self-awareness, increase compassion, understanding, respect, empathy and acceptance toward yourself and others.

Brene Brown once said "Vulnerability is not knowing victory or defeat, it’s understanding the necessity of both; it’s engaging. It’s being all in." I approach a session in this way and I hope to help each client navigate this journey. Whether it is issues with depression, anxiety,
family
conflict, substance abuse, etc, I hope to help each client reach that balance. I use an eclectic counseling approach to meet the needs of every client. I also see children as young as 4 years of age and aim to help them explore their emotions through their own language.. play.

Proper treatment for the patient and information and support for the
family
is needed.
Life can be fun again! With support, understanding, education, and sometimes proper medication, you can turn your life around. If you find you're feeling bored, unmotivated, or you're having problems with focus and concentration; maybe you are easily frustrated and irritable, feeling lonely. Or maybe you find yourself lying and feeling guilty and remorseful, but repeating this behavior anyway. You're losing sight of who you really are! Are you using too much Alcohol and/or drugs to cope and can't quit? These are some of the symptoms of the disease of Addiction...and there is hope!

I will collaborate with your
family
to motivate, provide accountability, and celebrate your child as they learn to move through limiting beliefs, negative self talk, doubt, and fear to set goals and take action to change their lives.
Are you noticing any of these issues with your child?: Anxiety, stress, low motivation, lack of confidence, poor self control, body image issues, poor time management, poor decision making, academic problems, parent- teen problems, failure to excel, & more. These are real issues teens face. And although there are times it seems like they are happy, you as a parent know there is something wrong. You are worried about your child. You find yourself up late thinking about what will happen if things continue this way. You are right to be concerned. If not addressed these can lead to unhappiness, broken relationships, anxiety, depression

Hi. Therapy isn't easy work but it's achievable if you'd like to develop healthier patterns for living. If you are struggling with
family
, co-workers, your spouse, we may be able to enhance your skills so you can wear your smile again.
Are you saddened too much of the time? Angered by those you love? Retaliating unacceptably? Feeling undervalued while believing you do the best you can? Feeling lost and vulnerable in a hectic world?
We may be able to identify behaviors, feelings which identify your "core," bringing them to the surface in a way which is comfortable.

I use an integrated approach that includes existentialism, cognitive behavioral therapy,
family
structural therapy and narrative therapy.
My interests include working with children & adults who have mental health issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship and
family
of origin issues, and other behavioral issues. I also have experience with substance abuse and domestic violence. If your issues are in an area that I do not feel comfortable in treating, I will refer to another clinician. Although counseling is an extremely personal experience, it is important to realize that our relationship is a professional rather than a personal one. This means that our time together will be limited to the scheduled sessions that you have with me.

I am focused on clients with individual, marriage, and
family
issues.
I see counseling as a process in which we come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I provide an atmosphere of openness and trust in which you may choose to examine and change non-functional patterns and behaviors. I believe that as people become personally responsible for interactions and behavior, they are more capable of finding happiness and contentment.

I conduct psychotherapy (talk therapy) in individual, couples,
family
, and group settings.
I believe in working with the client(s) to identify problem situations impacting the client’s current life. Together, we will develop goals and work toward achieving those goals with open and honest communication. I focus on clients with a variety of mental, emotional, and behavioral struggles. My work experience also involves counseling individuals with multiple diagnoses. My approach to counseling is born from a cognitive-behavioral perspective. This simply means that I work with clients to identify patterns of thoughts and actions in order to understand presenting problems fully and develop solutions.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
