I work closely with an on-site physician in an effort to provide and manage the medication needs of clients, including those being treated for chronic physical pain and attention deficit disorders.
As a holistic, solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life

My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, abuse and trauma, ADHD , anger, behavioral concerns, defiance, divorce, bullying, and grief.
I work with children ages 3+, adolescents, and adults. Your body, mind, and spirit naturally start to heal once it is in a state of peace. My job is to help you get there. Whatever you or your child have gone through, healing can occur once you are reconnected with your natural state. It takes some work, and that is what my work is about. I help people identify their inner strengths and empower them to use those strengths. I also really enjoy working with individuals and couples to resolve conflicts and create more rewarding connections.

As a parent of 2 children with ADHD , I understand the struggle parents face in trying to ensure that their children have the needed resources to succeed academically and the pain felt when they experience failure despite our efforts.
I believe that everyone who walks into my office comes with their own unique personality and life experiences; I don't believe that the same approach works for everyone. People are so much more than the diagnosis or "label" they are given. Getting to know my clients and building a trusting relationship is the most important part of therapy. In the end, my goal is to help my clients rely on their own strengths and successes to help them through personal challenges.

My interests include working with children & adults who have mental health issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADHD , relationship and family of origin issues, and other behavioral issues. I also have experience with substance abuse and domestic violence. If your issues are in an area that I do not feel comfortable in treating, I will refer to another clinician. Although counseling is an extremely personal experience, it is important to realize that our relationship is a professional rather than a personal one. This means that our time together will be limited to the scheduled sessions that you have with me.

I specialize in assessing children with different concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD , Anxiety, Depression, Learning Disabilities, etc.
In my practice, I enjoy helping families whose children are having difficulties in the schooling process. When a child is not doing well in school, there are a multitude of factors that may be getting in the way. I begin with an appropriate evaluation of the child and provide feedback to parents about what I believe is interfering with the child's ability to succeed. From there, I can provide individual intervention with the child and consultation with the parents. Also, it is often important to provide information to the school and have them assist in our plan.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
