I strive to create a safe space for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC to foster meaning-making and
acceptance
throughout all life areas.
Want to walk through life as your most authentic self? It may feel like a maze of obstacles standing in the way of transitioning and achieving gender euphoria. I believe you have the power to create meaning through examining the steps necessary to achieve your authentic self. I will guide you across this journey by alleviating gender stress, building gender resilience, securing social supports, and focusing on embodiment goals. Together, we can create a world where you can live in and express your gender with freedom from restriction, aspersion, or rejection.

Change involves patience with ourselves &
acceptance
of where we are in this moment.
I hope that you recognize your strength in beginning this search for your healing. It can be hard to reach out for heIp and it is my goal to meet you where you are on this journey. During our time together, I will prioritize creating an environment where you feel safe, validated, and understood. In addition to my lived experiences, I have worked with individuals who are navigating daily stressors, anxiety, grief, depression, relationship difficulties, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, identity issues, and more. I also strive to create a safe space for BIPOC to process the challenges they face.

The work I do is grounded in
Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy (
ACT
), a mindfulness-based approach geared towards helping people live meaningful lives even in the presence of adversity.
I think being human is hard. I believe on some level, most people know who they want to be, but it gets really hard to show up in our lives when the bad feelings-fear, guilt, shame, embarrassment, anxiety-are present. I think my role as a therapist is to help people learn how to show up in their lives and grow enough to have these bad feelings, and be people they can be proud of.

I primarily work from
Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy, which is less about decreasing symptoms and more about increasing our living.
In the therapy room, I love working with folks who find that they are struggling to fit in and connect with others - folks who might not feel that they have someone who GETS them. Maybe you feel like the black sheep of your family. Maybe you feel like you stand out in your community in some way. Perhaps you're ready to make some changes and feel nervous about how the new you will be accepted. I'm here to be a support and a guide, when needed, as you begin your new journey. Additionally, I love working with women and parents, with folks trying to learn how to live lives more true to their core values, and with folks in relationship.

The work I do is grounded in
Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy (
ACT
), a mindfulness-based approach to helping people actively build lives that are meaningful to them.
Being a human is hard. Each and every one of us, at some point in our lives, finds ourselves lost and stuck. We look at our lives and realize that this is not the life we planned for, that we are not the people we wanted to be. We look at the things we're spending our energy on, and we recognize that we're not moving any closer to to the life we want. My work focuses on helping people settle into those stuck moments, to choose a direction, and to take steps toward the life that they want.

I believe we have the choice of experiencing the pain of staying where we are or the potential pain from growing. My hope is to make others feel seen and be a guidance of support through the evolving journey of growth. I work in topics of grief/loss, anxiety, radical
acceptance
, and self-empowerment. Building coping skills to navigate these changes impacts our understanding of their purpose. I incorporate creative interventions, including aspects of nature towards healing to contribute to a holistic approach. Our approach to therapy will be collaborative and nonjudgemental, while offering grace and compassion through the adversity.

I have a strong desire to work with tweens, teens and adults. My goal is to be an unbiased listener, who will hear and accept you as you are. We are able to build trust, connection, and motivation for change when we feel accepted rather than judged, and that is what I seek to achieve with you in our sessions together. I have a passion and a history working with individuals within the LGBTQAI+ community. I believe that personal growth and development can occur in all individuals open to
acceptance
and understanding of themselves and others.

I do my best to make therapy an accessible, human process by building a safe, stable, healthy therapeutic relationship using hope, humor, and open
acceptance
without judgement.
Hey, there. I'm Zach (he/him). Chances are, if you're here, you've found yourself at a point in your life where you want, or perhaps need, to make a change, even if you don't quite know what that change is yet. That's alright. A good therapist is like having a trusted guide by your side to help you figure out the best path forward and to ease you through the harder spots. I'll help you figure out where you need to be, plot the best route to get you there, and support you every step of the way. If the story of your life isn't what you think it should be, let me help you rewrite it in a way that better fits.

The work I do is grounded in
Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy (
ACT
), an evidence-based form of CBT which incorporates mindfulness and behavior change strategies.
Whether you have previously seen other therapists or if this is your first time seeking help, I am an active and curious therapist which tends to make it a little easier to engage in this process. I believe that every one of us deserves to live the fullest life we can, even with the very real obstacles that stand in our way. I also believe that struggling is an inherent part of being human. The way we interact with our past, current situation, and dreams and goals can actually lead to increased suffering instead of moving closer to what we want.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
