Marriage Counseling Therapists in Jefferson Davis Parish, LA

In a society heavily influenced by opinions, it can be hard to distinguish reality in our daily lives. Navigating through difficult situations becomes a greater challenge while also trying to discover your purpose and self-worth. I believe that therapy requires a holistic approach which aims to improve the mental, physical, social and spiritual health of every person I encounter.

Do you ever think you are the only one who hasn't gotten their life together yet? The truth is we ALL experience difficult and stressful life stuff at times. Life can be really tough. We all carry pain that is often exacerbated by new relationships and situations: psychological, emotional, and spiritual pain. If you have tried to "figure it out" on your own for too long, like so many of us think we must, and would like a relatable professional to work with you toward healing and growth, I would appreciate the opportunity and privilege to work with you on your journey toward a healthier, happier you. It's ok to need some help.

I am a provisionally licensed marriage & family therapist, and a provisionally licensed professional counselor working towards licensure.
I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and agrees. I’m here to be real—with honesty, care, and a steady presence. I’ll support you with warmth, ask thoughtful questions, and gently challenge the places where you’re stuck. I won’t give you advice—but I’ll help you understand yourself more deeply and move forward with intention. You might be high-functioning on the outside but overwhelmed inside. Maybe you’re burned out from overgiving in relationships or work. Maybe you’re going through a transition that’s stirred up more than you expected. Either way, just coping isn't ideal; you want clarity, insight, and change that lasts.

I received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2014.
As changes and transitions happen, sometimes unexpectedly, we do the best we can to manage those interruptions when they occur. I would like to help each individual, couple, and family achieve the level of change they believe is necessary to improve, not only individually, but as they relate to others. I believe that sometimes we can become "stuck" during challenges and transitions, which may cause discomfort, but we possess the resiliency to move forward to live the life we desire.

How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
