In a society heavily influenced by opinions, it can be hard to distinguish reality in our daily lives. Navigating through difficult situations becomes a greater challenge while also trying to discover your purpose and self-worth. I believe that therapy requires a holistic approach which aims to improve the mental, physical, social and spiritual health of every person I encounter.

Do you ever think you are the only one who hasn't gotten their life together yet? The truth is we ALL experience difficult and stressful life stuff at times. Life can be really tough. We all carry pain that is often exacerbated by new relationships and situations: psychological, emotional, and spiritual pain. If you have tried to "figure it out" on your own for too long, like so many of us think we must, and would like a relatable professional to work with you toward healing and growth, I would appreciate the opportunity and privilege to work with you on your journey toward a healthier, happier you. It's ok to need some help.

I often use somatic-based approaches to interweave with other modalities such as CBT, EMDR, etc.
When navigating through life, you may face a time when you lose someone you love, face an illness, or a traumatic time in your own life. You may be going through a transition such as a divorce, move, or job loss. You do not need to navigate these alone! These transitions can affect every facet of life. You may be finding yourself feeling lost, doing your best to make it through day-to-day life. It might be difficult to get out of bed right now, to hold conversations, or to fulfill your caregiving or work responsibilities. You may be feeling anxiety that you would like help with.

I apply evidence-based interventions from within a Cognitive-Behavioral framework.
Everyone has the capacity to make changes in their lives to promote healing and peace. The therapist role is to foster and guide that process by offering alternative outlooks on life circumstances, and identify individual strengths to promote positive behavioral changes and ways of thinking. These changes come through the development of a sincere, honest relationship between client and therapist. I am non-judgemental and dedicated to every person who comes to me for help. I believe that each of us is resilient with the ability to overcome any of lifes obstacles.

My approach is trauma-informed and draws from evidence-based practices like CBT and DBT.
You don’t have to wait for things to get “bad enough” to start therapy. Sometimes, simply having space to feel seen and supported is enough. Hi, I’m Sarah. I often work with teens, college students, and adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, neurodivergence, and life transitions—but I welcome anyone seeking to grow and feel more grounded. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and paced to fit you. Together, we’ll explore what matters most and what healing can look like for you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
