This is just a fancy way of saying I am passionate about working with others interested in improving their sex education, intimacy with others, and acceptance of self!
Hi there! I'm Kristen, and my interest is people. I love getting to know about other's passions, feelings, attitudes, and ideas. And that's exactly what brought me to therapy! I get excited when others are looking to explore their own lives for ways to improve, no matter how small. I work well with clients who ruminate and tend to get caught in the vicious cycles of depression and anxiety by examining daily behaviors and thoughts. I like to be direct to maximize productivity in our time together, but will always treat you with the respect and compassion we all deserve. I'm always open to collaboration, feedback, and creativity.

I have extensive training in story-informed trauma (SITT), acceptance and commitment ( ACT), & internal family systems (IFS).
Counseling provides the opportunity to step out of the routine of everyday life to focus on the bigger picture and long-term growth. I am both humbled and inspired by the opportunity to walk with people through their most challenging life situations. I believe a healthy counseling relationship is built on unconditional trust and respect. It involves authenticity and an ongoing journey of humility and self-improvement for counselor and client. I utilize a wholistic approach to counseling, believing counseling should address emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs.

Hi, my name is Kristen (she/her). Life is full of unexpected challenges, regardless of what path we are on. Sometimes, these challenges become more than we can handle by ourselves. My goal is to walk alongside you on your journey of life. I strive to provide a space where we can work together and safely deconstruct your stresses and alter them to fit better with you on your journey. I hope to give you the tools to access your bravery and strength that I know is in there so that you never give up on yourself.

The work I do is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), an evidence-based form of CBT which incorporates mindfulness and behavior change strategies.
Whether you have previously seen other therapists or if this is your first time seeking help, I am an active and curious therapist which tends to make it a little easier to engage in this process. I believe that every one of us deserves to live the fullest life we can, even with the very real obstacles that stand in our way. I also believe that struggling is an inherent part of being human. The way we interact with our past, current situation, and dreams and goals can actually lead to increased suffering instead of moving closer to what we want.

With a holistic approach, I help clients build resilience, improve communication, and foster self- acceptance.
Healing begins with feeling truly seen, heard, and accepted. You are not broken—you are evolving, growing, and becoming more aligned with your values and desires. In a space of understanding and support, past wounds feel lighter, and self-discovery becomes possible. True healing happens when you feel safe to explore, express, and embrace every part of yourself. Therapy offers the opportunity to move beyond survival mode and create a life filled with meaning and connection.

Although I am well versed in a broad range of techniques and therapies, I often utilize an existential approach, Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT).
Life can feel heavy sometimes—especially when you’re carrying trauma, facing relationship challenges, struggling with addiction, or questioning who you are. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin. That’s okay. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. As your therapist, I offer a space where you can feel safe, seen, and supported—just as you are. I believe healing begins with connection and that meaningful change happens when you’re treated with compassion, respect, and honesty. I’ll walk alongside you with empathy while also helping you move toward your goals with clarity and confidence.

I often use somatic and mindfulness therapeutic techniques and incorporate ACT or CBT interventions to prepare for EMDR therapy.
Aiming to thrive and not solely survive? Despite our adverse experiences or current circumstances, we can find ourselves wanting to find more meaning in life. I help clients slow down to closely examine the obstacles that are interfering with their ability to live the life they envision. My approach to counseling is to learn to love yourself as you are while working on your areas of growth. We are all worthy of self-love and self-compassion, but all too often this is absent in our lives. My hope is that through this process you find your true self and are courageous enough to embrace and live out your most authentic life!

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
