In therapy, I work collaboratively with you to enhance your understanding of the internal and environmental factors that impact life, emerge as relational patterns, and potentially impede success. I offer a safe, comfortable space for the exploration of your concerns, ensuring you feel heard, respected, and understood. I enjoy working with diverse clients: of varying backgrounds and therapeutic needs. Though trained as a generalist, I sought additional education, practica, and research opportunities to develop the specialties of 1) counseling traditionally marginalized populations, 2) program development and evaluation, and 3) consultation and outreach.
Positive psychology/strength based approaches influence my therapeutic style. I believe in establishing a secure therapeutic alliance in order to empower those with whom I work. Recognizing the potential difficulty of connecting with a therapist, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to assess whether my clinical style would fit your therapeutic needs.
I am a licensed psychologist and psychology professor. Work settings have included: Johns Hopkins University/Health System EAP, College/University Counseling Centers, Community Mental Health, Government, Non-Profit, School Systems, Career Centers, and Residential Treatment.
