Coming to therapy always takes a lot of courage! Talking with someone about the things affecting us in our lives can be difficult. But, when the right steps are taken and we can see other ways to approach our problems, life can change. My goal as a therapist is to help people discover new ways to approach the difficult times in life and find alternative solutions. Ultimately, most people are seeking ways to have better relationships and feel a sense of contentment in life. Through individual, couples or family therapy I help people find these new ways of living.
I use an integrative therapeutic approach that borrows from cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy. In couples therapy I tend to use an emotionally focused approach. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy with an Approved Supervisor designation.
I also happen to be ordained as a clergy person in the Episcopal Church (vocational deacon). Though I don't "push" any sort of religious agenda, my spirituality does influence my practice. I am comfortable talking about religious matters, but will never push upon people any of my religious beliefs.
