My ideal client is one who is struggling with adapting to the perceived, realistic and/or unrealistic expectations of motherhood. One who struggles with finding the joy in motherhood, who has lost sight of who she is in the process, or is afraid to. One who has experienced trauma in the past and never addressed it, but is realizing it is impacting her relationship with her children. A client who has felt like they are drowning in life, in sadness, in anxiety, in fear, and wants to identify strategies to come back afloat.
I employ both cognitive and emotion regulation strategies to help my clientele progress from the survival mode space and into active enjoyment; setting short and long term goals. Developing practical and realistic strategies to improve ability to navigate motherhood is the key to removing the mental barriers that prevent us from addressing systemic ones.
My most important qualification as a therapist is my deep-seated passion regarding life wellness and enjoyment. As a mother of 2 small children, I know how damaging those years can be on sense of self and worth and can make life feel like constant autopilot.
