I use DBT to help those suffering from personality disorders, impulsivity, and self-harming behaviors.
Hello! I have been in the field since my first graduate degree in 1998. I have vast experience with humans suffering from all sorts of mental health needs, and I also have life experiences that translate into a genuine, real understanding and desire to help others. I enjoy partnering to set goals, engage in therapeutic work, and watch the growth and healing occur. I believe that education is extremely valuable and I have two other graduate degrees as well. I use my education and experience to help others live healthier, happier, more fulfilling lives.

Welcome! I specialize in trauma, substance use and process addictions, and life transitions. I work with adults and teens who are ready to look honestly at what’s getting in the way and do the work to change it. I won’t just nod and listen. I’ll challenge you. I’ll gently confront the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck. Sometimes that can feel uncomfortable, but that’s usually where real growth happens. You don’t have to do it alone. We’ll walk through it together. If you’re tired of repeating the same cycles and you’re ready for something different, I’d be honored to work with you.

I’m passionate about helping people who are struggling with the weight of past trauma—whether from childhood or adulthood—and feel stuck in patterns they desperately want to change. Trauma shapes how we view ourselves, others, and the world, often without us realizing it. This can leave us feeling like life should be different, yet no matter what we try, things stay the same. It’s exhausting, but it doesn’t have to be this way. In a safe, compassionate space, we’ll explore how your past influences your present. Together, we’ll break free from old patterns so you can experience lasting healing and freedom.

Many of the individuals I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. They may be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, or navigating major life transitions while trying to make sense of their inner experiences. I’m especially passionate about working with Veterans, first responders, young adults, and men—particularly those who find it difficult to open up or ask for help. As a combat veteran, I bring both personal understanding and professional insight to this work, creating a space where clients can feel seen, understood, and supported.

It is my deep belief that we each strive to be our best selves. This journey can be difficult and requires that we are able to recognize our own personal strengths and values. Clients should see the results of therapy in a measurable amount of time. This belief is where I begin treatment with the clients presenting problem guiding services.

Using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and psychoeducation, I help clients gain insight, build resilience, improve relationships, and create lasting change.
Life shouldn't feel like constant survival mode. If you're exhausted, overwhelmed, stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns, struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, or navigating addiction in your family, you're not alone. Many of my clients have spent years holding everything together for everyone else while silently struggling themselves. Together, we identify what's keeping you stuck, build practical tools for coping, strengthen boundaries, and create meaningful change so you can move from simply surviving to living a more steady, connected, and fulfilling life

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
