In my free time I enjoy being in nature, seeing new places, spending time with my family /doggies and going for long drives with some good tunes.
I enjoy working with adolescents who have a history of trauma and are looking for support in learning how to navigate symptoms. I also enjoy working with adults who are looking to improve symptoms of anxiety, life stressors, self-esteem, depression and who have also experienced trauma. I work to provide a safe space to discuss concerns in daily living and normalize mental health, removing the negative stigmas that can be placed around it.

As a Licensed Family Therapist , I am interested in looking at problems from within the multiple contexts which impact them.
We all have problems, and sometimes we just need a third party perspective to help develop the insight and skills needed to overcome. Using a collaborative approach, my goal is to work with children, teenagers, adults, couples and families to achieve solutions to overcome the barriers of living life successfully and relating meaningfully with others.

Having walked through difficult seasons myself I understand the need to have someone walk alongside you, your marriage, or your family as you journey through your current season.
There is so much noise pulling you toward a false sense of self that you forget what you needed/wanted in the first place. While feeling stuck you want to move forward to experience flourishing and allow the noise to fade away. As the noise subsides you can start taking steps to become the individual, couple, family you know you were meant to become.

I have training and experience helping individuals with issues including depression, anxiety, relationship/ family problems, anger management, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, PTSD, mood disorders, and adjustment disorders.
People come to therapy because they want to feel better. It might be relationship problems or anxiety/depression, but whatever the reason, life has become uncomfortable or painful. Most people want more understanding of themselves and their situation. That being said, change is what we all seek in therapy. Making your life work better is the goal. I focus on altering self-defeating ways, gaining perspective, and increasing insight that leads to change. The result is an improved quality of life.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
