I specialize and pull from a wide array of therapeutic techniques including psychodynamic, family systems, & mindfulness strategies.
Feeling overmedicated, numb, or stuck? I work with people seeking REAL healing, not just symptom management. My clients have often tried meds or talk therapy, without lasting results. If you feel like deeper healing is possible, you’re right — and you’re not alone. My approach is warm, collaborative, and integrative—focused on healing the root of distress, not just managing symptoms. Together, we unlearn conditioned patterns, reconnect with inner wisdom, and create space for lasting healing and alignment. Whether you’re looking to reduce meds, heal trauma, or come home to yourself—this is a space for real change.

I often start with a base of Psychodynamic and Solution-Focused tools and add-in one or two other methods to align to a toolkit that makes most sense for the client.
I work with adolescent, young adult, and middle age clients facing every day struggles with stress, anxiety or unexpected life events. I help you to understand yourself better, learn from what challenges you, and align the emotional & rational self, so that you can be the best you. This often means confronting the uncomfortable, discovering the unknown, and gently giving yourself the grace to heal and do personal work. Sessions focus on exploring old stories, breaking old habits, creating healthy narratives, and overcoming roadblocks to allow for new actions that move you forward with growth, strength, and peace in your days.

I am a relational therapist guided by psychodynamic, somatic, & Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed approaches.
If you’ve faced ongoing relational pain, loss, or life changes that left unresolved feelings, there is still hope. Maybe some of this began in early childhood with your family of origin. Perhaps you’ve experienced deep loss, and some days an ache comes with you everywhere. You may be experiencing infertility, living between hope and heartbreak. Or maybe you feel like you are running on empty and burnt out. You’ve noticed your own energy and wellbeing fading under the weight of everyone else’s needs. Even though you’ve experienced wonderful life changes, you may find yourself grieving parts of your past or who you used to be.

The struggle to manage all of our roles can be intense. Trying to meet expectations, stay healthy, and manage the emotional burden of the past and can be exhausting and challenging every day. Our inner critic may determine our moods, and social media and social comparison can leave us feeling like we're just not enough. In addition, anxiety and depression often keep us stuck in fretting over the past, or worrying that we won't be able to keep it together in the future. When we realize that we need to address the worries or hurts that plague us, therapy can take a lot of the pressure off by healing old wounds and building self-worth.

It's easy to judge. It's more difficult to understand. Through judging, we separate. Through understanding, we grow. (Doe Zantamata) Therapy can be hard, it can be awkward, and it can be messy, but it's also where the magic happens to self discovery, healing, forgiveness and strength. Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, or just to see the light? You are not the only one, and you do not have to sit in the dark alone. In therapy I use researched based treatments such as EMDR, solution focused and CBT techniques to help you live as your best self. I will meet you where you are at, and work toward your healing together.

Hi, I'm Mika. Before moving into private practice, I worked in a university counseling setting, where I encountered clients presenting to therapy to address a wide range of struggles and life transitions. That experience deepened my understanding of how layered and complex our idea of “wellness” can be. It underscored the importance of exploring a person’s inner world—how their past, relationships, and search for meaning intersect in the ongoing work of living a more integrated and authentic life.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
