Even though my credentials are " Marriage and Family Therapist," I prefer to describe myself as a playful, relationship-oriented therapist who has been trained in systems thinking and specializes in working with LGBTQ and neurodivergent families, kids, teens, and adults.
Talking to a stranger about some of the most personal aspects of your life can be intimidating! I try to make this easier on clients that choose to work with me by being playful, authentic, and honest. I am passionate about working with adolescents, adults, families, and children. I enjoy working with clients who are navigating anxiety, identity, grief, or tough family dynamics. I meet clients where they’re at—helping them feel heard, build skills, and move toward the life they want, by creating a supportive environment that is collaborative and client-centered.

Areas of special interest and experience include: ANXIETY DISORDERS, DEPRESSIVE DISORDERS, SUBSTANCE DEPENDENCY DISORDERS, MARITAL ISSUES.
Welcome to PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING SERVICES. Human beings often struggle with unpleasant thoughts, feelings and sensations that can seem almost unbearable and impact our behaviors and relationships. When we are consumed with emotional pain and suffering, it becomes a challenge to attend to other important parts of our life. This may be an important time for you where you realize that your life has shrunk significantly and you would like to create a life 'worth living' for yourself again.

I have experience with a multitude of issues, concerns, and diagnoses, including life changes, marital issues, parenting stress, burnout, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, self-esteem struggles, low self-worth, identity confusion, and grief.
It is not uncommon to feel as if you are alone in your struggles, as if you do not fit into the constricting margins of society. Most of us don't fit neatly into standardized societal boxes. Trying to conform into those boxes can be exhausting and traumatizing. As a therapist, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your identity, experiences, and challenges without fear of invalidation. Together, we can navigate the complexities of your unique journey towards healing and self-discovery, honoring and celebrating the multifaceted aspects of you.

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Kentucky, providing services for 17 years.
All humans are unique, as are all clients. While there is no way to describe the “ideal” client, I work best with those individuals who place a high value on authenticity, transparency, and honesty. Those three factors are well suited for clients who are goal-driven and aspire true and lasting change. Some areas of rewarding experience have included work with non-traditional family structures, women’s health and wellness, intergenerational trauma healing, adoption and its impact for all involved, and healthy relationship development- to name a few. I assist humans in realizing, trusting, and believing in their truest potential.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
