Are you carrying pain that no one else can see? Maybe you’re showing up every day, doing what you have to do—but inside, you’re overwhelmed, stuck, or just trying to survive. You might feel like something is “off,” or that you’re too much, or not enough. If you're navigating life after trauma, grief, or complicated relationships, you are not alone—and you don’t have to do this alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience helping individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, and life’s hardest moments. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and parts work inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS).

01/15/26- Now accepting new telehealth clients. Constant worry, difficult emotions, dissatisfaction in relationships… these can all be very overwhelming. Everyone has a threshold of what they can cope with alone. This is what therapy is for! My clients appreciate that I listen with a deep curiosity and alert compassion to their unique story, strengths and struggles, with a down to earth and conversational style. I help my clients identify negative thought patterns, learn the anatomy of emotions, put new coping into practice, connect back into their bodies, and we probably laugh more than you might expect!

I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling disconnected or unsure how to move forward after loss, conflict, or change. Together we slow things down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and uncover patterns that shape how you think, feel, and relate. My goal is to help you move toward steadier, more connected, and more fulfilling ways of living and being with others.

The truth is that we are all trying to do our best, but life can be challenging, and navigating it all can feel overwhelming. If what you’re doing now isn’t working, let’s work on it together. Therapy is no longer the prescriptive environment where you lay on a stranger’s couch. Show up as you are, with a mug of coffee, a meme that spoke to you, or pictures of your pets. We’ll figure it out and use it all to create meaningful change.

Hi, I'm Mika. Before moving into private practice, I worked in a university counseling setting, where I encountered clients presenting to therapy to address a wide range of struggles and life transitions. That experience deepened my understanding of how layered and complex our idea of “wellness” can be. It underscored the importance of exploring a person’s inner world—how their past, relationships, and search for meaning intersect in the ongoing work of living a more integrated and authentic life.

I am a pediatric psychologist with over 20 years of experience working as a doctoral-level therapist with children, teens and their families. I have experience in evaluating and treating a wide range of problems, but I am especially skilled in working with those who are neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD) as well as children who struggle with anxiety, OCD, social delays and sensory issues. I will work with you and your child to clarify treatment goals. I believe that therapy and assessment should be individualized to the needs of both the client and the family, that uniqueness should be celebrated and that strengths should be built upon.

Accepting new clients! If you feel that past therapy has been “directionless,” I am the provider for you. My approach is rooted in compassion, and heavily skills-based. You’ll leave our sessions with tools, choices, and an increased understanding of yourself, your relationship, or your teen. My experience with attachment-based modalities, Internal Family Systems techniques, and complex PTSD, has helped me to incorporate somatic practices into my therapy session, as well as techniques to reprogram deep subconscious wiring that keeps us stuck in harmful patterns and ruts. I specialize in working with those struggling with anxiety.

In today’s world, we witness a plethora of stressors, which affect our day to day life’s mental health wellbeing. With the increased stress, and exhaustion in routine life, meeting the demands of family, work, and personal goals, especially during the pandemic period, it gets difficult to cope. The restrictions of social distancing has further isolated individuals who are seeking support to manage their overwhelming psycho emotional state. This extent of exertion leads to mental health issues e.g., depression, anxiety. These individuals can be a wife, a mother, a student, a teacher, a doctor, or a mental health professional.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
