I have many years of experience working with early childhood trauma and severe, persistent mental illness, varying from ages of 5 years to 70+. My goal is to empower and advocate for positive change within you, as the individual, and the system as a whole. The place that we will create together is a safe and judgement free space. I work through an Existential foundation, to help those I work with seek meaning and purpose, with skills built from experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, all within the context of a trauma-informed approach.

As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating grief, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and more.
Many come to me feeling stuck between who they’ve been and who they want to become—overwhelmed by emotions, relationships, or the weight of their past. Together, we slow down the noise, identify what matters most, process any past trauma, and develop the tools to move forward with clarity and confidence.

I’ve found that addressing both the obvious and subtle impacts of trauma to often be the key to resolving long-standing problems with depression, anxiety, interpersonal concerns, and emotional dysregulation. Many clients come to me when they’ve had unsatisfying experiences with therapy that have left their deeper issues unaddressed. While this work can be challenging, I find it deeply rewarding to help my clients find meaningful relief from their emotional pain.

Hi there! I’m SaMika. Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation in which the “expert” talks to you and tells you what to do. What is the joy in that? I find joy in working with other experts to create solutions to great change- and guess what? You are the expert on YOU. I believe one of the bravest things someone can do is work to understand their own story.

I focus on somatic (mind and body), holistic approaches, and brain science techniques such as Brainspotting and TRIP, to combine all the best tools that work for your specific needs. I operate on the knowledge that humans need connection and safety to heal. Our work together will include the deep work you need to release wounds and trauma, but also lightness and positivity. Healing is not only about removing bad but increasing good, and increasing our ability to tolerate the good! We are wired to focus on the negative, as a protection, but often need help sitting in calmness and safety. Together, we can get there.

Hi there, and welcome! I’m Bethany, your friendly neighborhood queer, goth mental health counselor on wheels. Cerebral palsy and a lifetime as a wheelchair user has given me unique insight into chronic illness, anxiety, and feeling “othered” by society. You aren’t broken and you certainly don’t have to feel like a passive participant in your own life. Rock bottom often provides the most fertile soil for positive growth. I can’t wait to see what blooms for you. LLAP!

We know so much for certain about the human anatomy, but when it comes to our mental health even the line between the brain and the mind is blurred. Behavioral Health interests me because nothing is ever certain. Even when it comes to the treatment of individual illnesses, there is no set way of treating a patient, and often it is only a mix of many approaches that can solve an issue entirely...

I have experience utilizing varying therapeutic modalities/interventions; however, my preferred modalities are person-centered, CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I believe a person-centered approach is essential in the beginning stages of therapy, when building rapport and human connection is essential to therapeutic success.

I believe we are created for connection yet shame often convinces us that we are unworthy, unlovable, or incapable. Our past shapes how we think, feel, and respond in the present and our thought patterns can make life feel heavy and overwhelming. I work primarily with children, adolescents and young adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and neurodevelopmental challenges. As eldest daughter of immigrant parents, I also understand how cultural expectations and family dynamics shape identity, relationships, and emotional well-being.

I work primarily with adolescents and adults. I believe people, at different points in their lives, may need support overcoming hurdles or may just be feeling "stuck." I enjoy working with clients who have concerns in many areas, including depression, relationships, identity, adjustment, anxiety and worry, stress and life management, or family concerns. I value my work as a psychologist and approach each client with respect for their own unique identity and the concerns they seek therapy for.

Borderline Personality (BPD) Therapists
What is the most successful approach to treating borderline personality disorder?
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is considered the gold standard of treatment for borderline personality disorder. An evidence-based treatment, it addresses the extreme emotional reactivity, the relationship difficulties, and the acts of self-harm that create so much distress for BPD patients. DBT is a comprehensive program that includes both regular individual psychotherapy sessions and weekly group sessions of skills training.

What happens in treatment of borderline personality disorder?
Treatment typically consists of weekly individual therapy sessions that last an hour and group skill-focused instructional sessions that may last up to two hours. Patients are typically given homework “assignments” in which they are asked to practice in their daily life the skills they acquire in therapy. Patients also keep a diary tracking their emotions and impulses as a way to know which situations are most problematic and to help them gain control over their own behavior. Difficult situations and feelings are typically reviewed in therapy sessions and more constructive solutions found.

What kinds of problems does BPD treatment help with?
DBT was initially developed to dampen the self-destructive impulses of chronically suicidal patients. It is now the treatment of choice for borderline personality disorder, a serious condition marked by extreme emotional reactivity, relationship instability, and self-injurious behaviors. Treatment of BPD helps patients tolerate the flux of emotions without acting on them, often with a specific focus on tolerating negative emotions. DBT addresses the core problems of BPD—fear of abandonment, low self-esteem, and impulsivity.

What is the goal of treatment in borderline personality disorder?
The goal of treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD) is to relieve the extreme emotional distress that patients experience—to curb their emotional reactivity, to minimize their inclination to self-harm, and to reduce their impulsivity. Toward these ends, patients are not only taught an array of new coping skills and techniques for emotional regulation, they are given opportunities to practice them. Another major goal of treatment is interpersonal effectiveness; patients learn and problem-solve ways to effectively communicate in relationships, especially how to ask for what they need as a way to minimize hurt feelings.
