I specialize in helping individuals heal from substance use disorder, trauma, manage mood and anxiety challenges, and navigate recovery and life transitions.
I use evidence-based approaches which means we’ll not only work on your thoughts and behaviors, but also pay attention to how stress, trauma, and emotions show up for you. I believe healing happens when we combine practical skills with self-awareness and presence, helping you build resilience, regulate emotions, and deepen your connection to yourself. Some of the modalities I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness.

When clients come to me, I draw from both my background. I know that healing and transformation can happen in spaces where you feel seen, heard, and comfortable enough to be yourself. My approach integrates evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, culturally appropriate somatic therapies, and solution- focused strategies, but it’s all infused with the relational and intuitive skills I developed during my hairstyling years.

Often clients have lost hope, being driven by anxiety and depression along with lack of coping skills other than substance use or behaviors that no longer work.
I am trained in EMDR and Brain Spotting therapies which address the neurobiology of the brain. The ability to treat the symptoms of trauma are lessened and insight is gained through attunement with clients. Somatic awareness is another practice assists clients increase emotional stability.

When someone is faced with emotional pain, knowing what to do is difficult and counseling can be freightening. As a marriage & family therapist and social worker, it is my practice to provide a safe environment for clients to resolve their issues of concern. Using the client's expertise of self as a vital part of my team is solicited and used along with my life experience and educational knowledge to make positive changes. Validation and client strengths are part of the therapeutic process. Feeling in control of one's situation and finding hope for a healthy future can be expected.

I enjoy working with severe mental illness, complex trauma, substance abuse-- I enjoy this all of this work because I enjoy watching as people realize they have everything they need inside of them.
Healing is a messy process-- it takes courage and grit, it requires internal resources and consistent support, it forces us to go backward before we can even think of moving forward in ways that would make us feel proud. Despite the difficulty, you know that what you need is not a band-aid. You need something more thorough. Something that will help you to not only deal with the pain of the things that have already happened, the things that have been done to you and the shame around choices you may have made, but you need to know that in the future you won't have to continue feeling this way as new choices and challenges emerge.

Many of the people I support are navigating trauma, anxiety, substance use or recovery, major life transitions, relationship challenges, or the pressure of feeling like they need to “hold it all together
My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and tailored to you as a whole person. I am also trained in EMDR. Therapy with me is not rigid or one-size-fits-all. We might sit on the floor, use grounding objects, play with Play-Doh, draw, pause to breathe, or simply create a quieter, more embodied space—whatever helps your nervous system feel safest.

If things look fine on the outside but don’t feel that way on the inside, I’d be glad to help. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware. They’ve already done a lot of reflecting. But they still find themselves dealing with anxiety, low moods, familiar reactions, or repeating patterns in relationships that don’t simply change just because they understand them.

I have worked in high-acuity mental health and addiction services for years.
Hi there! Welcome to Kind Mind, which is the gentle landing place you have been looking for. My name is Morgan and I'm already so proud of you for starting this journey. Whether you are seeking out therapy as a means to heal from past traumas or are just looking to grow in self-compassion and awareness, welcome! It can be crazy hard to change, and harder still to acknowledge change is needed. It truly is my greatest honor to sit across from individuals and couples who are taking that first step to better themselves - with and immense amount of courage and curiosity - knowing that change can be really hard and uncomfortable.

I understand finding the right therapist is a unique decision that begins by looking at your own needs and preferences. My approach is evidenced-based therapies along with the mindset that we all have within us the answers to our problems. Challenges can be a normal part of life, facing these challenges means we take a path of looking within and choose personal growth. I meet each client with the knowledge that with the problem is the answer. A down-to-earth way that recognizes and supports each individual's resiliency and confidence in taking on life's bumps and coming out stronger and capable.

I have 20 years experience in treating trauma/abuse, substance abuse, grief/loss, and mood disorders.
Healing from trauma, abuse, grief and loss along with a mood disorder can be overwhelming. Healing happens when you feel seen without judgment or pressure. And I provide an informal environment, one that allows you to relax and reconnect you to your strengths, develop new insights, and build a sense of inner stability. We can move at your pace as you build a tolerance for uncomfortable feelings. We can also work on untangling yourself from a "trauma bonding" relationship.

Do you feel yourself powerless in the face of strong emotions and spiraling thoughts? I can guide you to learn how to accept all parts of yourself, the "wanted" as well as the "unwanted" and gain a productive distance from thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Are you feeling fragmented by competing demands that leave you feeling unfulfilled? I can help you discover your own values and help you create actions plans that are in line with your core values. Do family dynamics leave you feeling joyless? Do you find yourself having the same arguments with little resolution? Are you struggling with self-esteem issues?

I specialize in the stuff most people prefer to sweep under the rug; complex trauma, addiction, and unique mental health challenges.
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, let’s face it, what works for one person might not work for you. That’s why I mix it up, using whatever tools suit your needs best. Whether it’s diving into Inner Child work, tapping into TF-CBT, DBT, REBT, or exploring the deeper stuff like Somatic Bodywork, Polyvagal Theory, SE, or NET, I’ve got you covered.
