I also specialize in working with those that have experienced trauma, grief , and loss .
I assist adults, older adults and couples. I believe all individuals have strengths and once those strengths are identified, a person can truly thrive and be happy. With all that goes on in a persons world it can appear difficult to be happy and we become stuck. In therapy we will create goals that will empower you to make the changes needed in your life.

It is my personal philosophy that I do not treat disorders, I treat people. People come with a variety of complex issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief . I work with individuals with a strong emphasis on healing from trauma, goal orientation, behavioral redirection, and addressing issues with self-esteem and negative thoughts. My central philosophy is this – you are not broken, you do not need to be fixed. You need only to work towards making appropriate changes to help you to live a life that helps you to become the best version of yourself. I work with Medicaid and most Commercial Insurance plans

Do you ever feel like you’re living on the margins of your life? As a therapist, I work with people to explore their lives on a deep level because it is my experience that the more deeply we work, the deeper our healing. We will work together to identify what is holding you back, has you stuck. I don't think it is what's wrong with you; I think it's what's happened to you. You may identify the stuck place as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief , relationship isuses, blocked life transitions, creativity, or spiritual growth. You may recognize this as a yearning to deepen and grow.

Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Most of the good work in the world is done by people who weren't feeling all that well the day they did it." I think this statement reminds us about the human condition (which is) imperfect. Human beings have a biological and social need for each other. In fact, neuroscientists have discovered the anatomical regions of the brain that help maintain human connections throughout our including the time following a loved one's death . I am a licensed therapist in Kentucky. Master's degrees include community counseling and art therapy. I offer attentive, supportive, and compassionate therapy.

My interests include adults in life transitions: pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, grief , career changes, divorce, marriage, trauma, moving, and child-parent attachment.
Maybe your parenthood journey has been harder than you anticipated. Or you are struggling with feeling good enough. Perhaps you’re ending a relationship or starting a new career. You might be feeling disconnected from your partner or children, feeling touched out and overwhelmed. Life is full of change and transitions that can at times leave us feeling alone, anxious and exhausted. Therapy is a safe and accepting space where we can work together for you to boldly live as your authentic self. Imagine being able to focus on your healing and self and turn off the worry.

Life does not always go as planned. Bad things happen to good people, and good people sometimes make bad choices. People hurt people, experience loss and disappointment, and sometimes wake up living a life that feels foreign to them. In my role as a therapist, I have the opportunity to travel alongside others as they experience human struggle. I believe in the value of ALL people, regardless of age, gender, race, socioeconomic status, sexuality, religion, or life circumstance. I believe in the power of change in a person's life, and count it a privilege to be a part of that change.

Many of my clients have struggled with various forms of anxiety, depression, grief , life transitions and past trauma. Many of my clients have been women of color navigating challenges with family, work, grief , parenting and relationships, while attempting to cope with the stressors that come with these roles. Often, these clients are attempting to be the best version of themselves, and want assistance in identifying and strengthening ways to thrive, rather than merely survive.

I have a wide range of experiences and feel confident working with clients experiencing issues in the following areas: addiction, depression, relationship issues, child & adolescent issues, sexuality, bereavement , anxiety, and codependency.
I love my work and enjoy offering my clients a safe and supportive environment for them to grow and explore themselves. My style is both conversational and relational. I offer an authentic presence within a collaborative, lively relationship in which self-discovery can be non-threatening and perhaps, even fun. I am committed to sharing everything I know which I believe will help heal the difficulties in one's life. I am inspired each day by the courage clients have each moment they show up for therapy. I became a therapist because, to me, the value in life comes when you return to your value within.

Many women find themselves struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, uncertainty and exhaustion while moving through various phases of their lives. These times can feel lonely and challenging such as navigating college life and peer relationships, pregnancy and postpartum mood shifts, or parenting. And some of these times can feel devastating, and sadly include the loss of a relationship, loved one, or child.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
