Women
seek me out to help build boundaries and self-confidence while trying to manage the stressors of life. Most of the
women
that come to see me believe, if they can "just do a little better" then they will eventually find the perfect balance; only to find, the amount of effort they put in doesn't change their outcome. I also work with people in the LGBTQ+ community and people that love someone in the LGBTQ+ community struggling to adapt to the changes happening in their life. Ultimately, maybe you're just seeking a sense of self or belonging while dealing with emotional consequences of being rejected by toxic mainstream culture.

Resurgence is centered on helping
women
with the struggles of balancing life many roles and expectations on themselves.
You just want the pain, chaos, and emptiness you feel to go away once and for all. Whether it is eating secretly to comfort yourself, having to drink every night to sleep, pushing yourself to achieve, or isolating yourself. Attempting to balance family, work, and your self-care can feel overwhelming and tends to end with you feeling worse about yourself and how you can't get it together. Shame and guilt keep you stationary where you are, and if you had to admit that things were not where you wanted you might actually crumble. Let's figure out a new normal, together.

of all ages in your same situation and become healthier in a warm supportive environment.
I understand that sometimes we are just surviving rather than thriving. While in survival mode, we often rely on disordered eating possibly because of past traumas. This takes its toll on us physically and emotionally. Have you ever spent the majority of the day thinking about food or fearing your next meal? Maybe you have had a big transition in life, moved from home to college, ended a relationship or are now an empty nester. Do you try to avoid looking in the mirror? Do you feel helpless and hopeless? Do you self loathe and compare yourself to others? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, know that there is hope!

I specialize in helping
women
who are struggling with fears, sadness, anger, and overwhelm, during pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, miscarriage, parenting and beyond.
I believe in the healing power of a caring safe relationship. Together we create a safe space where you can feel your feelings without worrying about how they will affect others, where you can learn skills for coping with painful emotions and hard circumstances, and where together we make a plan so you can feel like yourself again. While I tailor what I do in counseling to your needs and goals, my goal is for you to feel more capable of living the life you want as a result of our time together.

As a Black Queer
Woman
, I feel it's imperative to meet people where they are with their mental health needs & identities.
You've been going through it. Your partner, friends, and family see it too. You just want to move on with your life, but don’t know how. It happens to us all at some point, but you're still unsure about talking to someone. Going to therapy is a huge step for yourself because you've felt tired of be tired long enough. For me, therapy goes best as a conversation between people as if over coffee or tea. If this sounds like you, it looks like you're ready for a chat. I’m looking forward to joining your journey.

Hi! I’m Janelle. I’m a licensed psychologist, and I specialize in working with entrepreneurial
women
. I understand the pressure and stress that come along with owning a business. It’s easy to be consumed by your work and to struggle with balancing work with all the other areas of your life. You often feel spread too thin and like you’re not doing a good enough job in any of the areas in your life. You feel you’re not a “good enough” business owner, partner, mother, daughter, colleague, etc. even though you're trying so hard!

I am a Licensed Clinical Counselor specializing in
Women
’s Issues and Addiction.
Life often feels like a series transitional periods and sudden changes happening all at once. It can be overwhelming, confusing and, sometimes, lonely. It is the way we move through those times in life that matters, and there is no shame in searching for support. As
women
, we often feel we must have every piece of life together and when one piece goes missing from the puzzle, we feel as though we have failed each step of the way. Little do we know, there is always hope.

women
in my private practice.
Many
women
find themselves struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, uncertainty and exhaustion while moving through various phases of their lives. These times can feel lonely and challenging such as navigating college life and peer relationships, pregnancy and postpartum mood shifts, or parenting. And some of these times can feel devastating, and sadly include the loss of a relationship, loved one, or child.

women
gain confidence, set boundaries, and find relief from feelings of anxiety and self-doubt.
The transition into motherhood is hard, and it becomes even harder when things don’t go as planned. Add in the pressure to perfectly “do it all” and it’s no wonder
women
are often left feeling stressed, burnt out, overwhelmed, anxious, and/or depressed. Many of my clients come to me with goals of finding balance, gaining confidence, healing from past wounds, and changing the patterns that are keeping them stuck. Whether you are just starting the process of trying to conceive, in the throes of infertility treatment, pregnant/postpartum, or years into child rearing - I get it and I can help you reconnect to what matters most to you.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
