I work with children, adolescents and adults, in varying degrees of distress. Many clients enter their therapeutic relationship with presenting problems which may include depression, anxiety, dysfunction in a primary relationship , or grief and loss. Others present addiction and codependency patterns that cause chronic difficulties with maintaining healthy relationships. Some suffer trauma that remains buried and entangled deep within. All are seeking a new path out of their suffering and into an enlightened experienced of themselves and the world. Together we will seek that fresh perspective, allowing old wounds to heal and creating space for a renewed vision of hope.

The good news? Therapy is a journey of healing and hope, and positive change is possible! Working in a genuine, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship , I can assist you in learning new ways of thinking and coping in an environment free of judgment or assumption, where you can discover what matters to you, what's working and what isn't.
I believe there resides, in each of us, the need to be fully seen, fully heard, and fully loved. Developing our highest self requires we be present, mindful, and authentic—it means choosing to live life on purpose and with intention. Why is it so difficult to get there, and harder still to sustain? Many reasons: trauma, difficult families, messy relationships, ill-fitting careers, illness, distorted perceptions, bad habits, financial worries, toxic mindsets, transitions, aging—in other words, LIFE. Life happens. The result is a process that is often uncomfortable and leaves us physically and emotionally changed and worn.

I work with a variety of clients: individuals, couples , and families.
What would your life be like if you woke up tomorrow and everything was just how you wanted it to be? What would be different? Therapy can help you identify and reach those goals. Whether your focus is individual, with your partner , or with a family member - the process can be beneficial and effective. My job is to help guide you through the choices, decisions, and communication patterns that are stopping you from making those improvements or changes. Therapy does not have to be intimidating or anxiety provoking. It can instead be an interactive, thought-provoking, learning experience.

I understand that sometimes we are just surviving rather than thriving. While in survival mode, we often rely on disordered eating possibly because of past traumas. This takes its toll on us physically and emotionally. Have you ever spent the majority of the day thinking about food or fearing your next meal? Maybe you have had a big transition in life, moved from home to college, ended a relationship or are now an empty nester. Do you try to avoid looking in the mirror? Do you feel helpless and hopeless? Do you self loathe and compare yourself to others? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, know that there is hope!

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
