As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), I take a person centered and strengths-based approach rooted in body based practices and mindfulness.
I most enjoy working with adults on a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, disordered eating and body image, and perfectionist tendencies. My ideal client is someone who is ready to get to work and motivated to change. They also might describe themselves as a people pleaser or a person who cares for others before caring for themselves.

The issues I can address are chemical dependency, mood disorders, grief, transitions in school, family, and marriage. A layer that is manifested in maladaptive coping skills (chemical dependency, poor self-talk, dysregulated behaviors). Clients need to be validated, accepted, and seen. Clients desire to be valued, accepted, and connected because of universal needs, a history of self-doubt, and feelings of hopelessness.

You’ve learned to carry the weight without showing it — staying calm in chaos, staying strong for everyone else. But when trauma lingers in your nervous system, it can quietly drain your energy, your focus, and your peace of mind. At Uprooted Healing, I specialize in helping adults — particularly first responders and men — work through PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. Many of my clients have spent years in survival mode, unsure how to slow down or reconnect with themselves. Together, we’ll create a space where you don’t have to keep it all together — a space where healing begins.

Somatic care is woven in, helping you notice and release what the body holds so healing can happen in both mind and body.
Maybe it’s the constant hum of worry or the weight of holding everything together. Maybe you’ve been through something hard and you’re still finding your footing. Or maybe life just feels heavy lately—and you don’t know why. This is your space to slow down, breathe, and begin again. I use EMDR to help the brain heal from pain, DBT to build balance, and CBT to shift patterns that keep you stuck. I support trauma survivors, healthcare workers, foster and adoptive parents, and bariatric clients on their healing journey. At Hearth & Haven, you don’t have to do it alone.

You may be here because your relationship feels distant, life feels overwhelming, or you're stuck in painful relationship patterns. Maybe past trauma keeps resurfacing, or conflict leaves you feeling disconnected from loved ones. You want deeper connection, healing, and peace—but that’s hard to reach alone. Whether in your marriage, family, or personal life, you don’t have to do this by yourself. Or, you may find yourself painfully reliving your past, no matter how hard you try to press on. It is possible to find a new way of living with more freedom and connection; but, this can be hard without help along the way.

You’re in the thick of pregnancy or postpartum, and it’s nothing like you imagined. Maybe you expected it to be hard, but not this hard. You’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, touched out, or disconnected. Sex might feel like the last thing you want, or like another thing you’re “failing” at. You might be grieving a birth that didn’t go as planned, a loss that others have forgotten, or the version of you that existed before motherhood. On the outside, you’re functioning. But inside, you’re struggling. You’re craving support that actually gets it: not just surface-level support, but real healing for your mind, body, and nervous system.

You may look like you have it all together while privately struggling with anxiety, shame, emotional overwhelm, burnout, or relationship patterns that leave you exhausted and disconnected from yourself. Many have spent years walking on eggshells, overthinking, people-pleasing, or questioning their reality after emotionally immature caregivers or toxic relationships. Others feel trapped in cycles of rumination, compulsions, panic, perfectionism, or intrusive thoughts despite constantly trying to hold it all together. Therapy can help you stop living in constant self-protection and start feeling more like yourself again.

I most enjoy using treatment types that allow me to meet you where you are like IFS and Somatic Therapies.
Hi, I'm Sydnee! Are you looking to find ways to make life a little easier or learn more about yourself? I work with teens, young adults, and adults to help them grow in the areas they struggle with the most. We will spend our first session getting to know each other and figuring out how we can work best together. After that, our sessions are led by you; what's on your mind, what you're struggling with, and what you need from me.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
