I most enjoy working with adults on a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, disordered eating and body image, and perfectionist tendencies. My ideal client is someone who is ready to get to work and motivated to change. They also might describe themselves as a people pleaser or a person who cares for others before caring for themselves.

My clients are adults experiencing grief or trauma related to death, relationship loss, illness, pet loss, job change, divorce, life transitions, or identity disruption. They often feel angry, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who they are now—and may not even realize that what they are experiencing is grief. Mostly, they are simply tired of carrying and processing alone. Together, we work in a compassionate space where we can speak openly, feel deeply, and begin making sense of what has happened. Through this work, we restore emotional steadiness and reconnect with meaning, even though life may look different than before.

I work with women who feel stuck in the cycle of emotional or disordered eating and are ready for a different approach. Many of my clients are high-functioning, self-aware, and frustrated that “knowing what to do” hasn’t translated into lasting change. Whether you are navigating patterns of restriction, overeating, or constant food noise, we focus on understanding the deeper drivers behind your behaviors rather than relying on quick fixes. I also specialize in supporting women who are in perimenopause or menopause, where shifts in hormones, mood, sleep, and body composition can make eating and body image feel even more complicated.

When it comes to therapy it is important to choose a therapist that fits best with your needs, someone with whom you feel understood and valued. Therapy is a creative process in which we consider personal past history and how that impacts present feelings and behaviors. In a therapeutic environment of safety and compassion, we explore how to use that information to construct healthy relationships and a satisfying life for you.

Life has a way of feeling overwhelming - wanting more for yourself but unsure how to get there. Maybe you may be feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, low self-worth, or the emotional exhaustion that comes from constantly carrying the weight of everyone else's needs. Maybe you struggle to regulate your emotions, connect in relationships, or simply show up as the person you want to be. You aren’t alone and don’t have to face these challenges alone.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
