I approach counseling from an existential and person-centered perspective, grounded in the belief that each individual possesses an inherent capacity for growth, self-understanding, and meaningful change. My role is to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely seen and heard, allowing their unique experiences and inner wisdom to guide the therapeutic process. Central to my work is an exploration of meaning, purpose, and personal responsibility. I support clients in reflecting on their values, confronting life’s uncertainties, and cultivating a sense of agency in shaping their lives.

When anxiety, fear, depression, and outside stressors fill their barometer up, they reach a boiling point of eruption that plays out in extreme anger, defiance, substance abuse, addictions to social media and screens, overeating, and other destructive behaviors.
I assist individuals in emptying out that barometer, give them my full attention, without judgment. I coach them in what I know works using evidence-based interventions such as EMDR, DBT, and CBT.

Life happens…and we do our best to get through it. The effects of life’s traumas can linger and cause changes in how we relate to others and ourselves. Finding your voice, drawing boundaries, and making wise decisions without reacting from past trauma are possible. After 15 years as special education teacher and four years working in long-term recovery at the Refuge for Women, I am an LPCA who focuses on trauma and stress – related recovery, chronic health, first responders, and learning and behavior disorders.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, substance use, mood disorders, and adjustment challenges.
Life’s challenges can sometimes feel heavy, and it’s not always easy to know how to move forward. I work with clients to increase insight, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and build skills that support personal growth. I strive to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore your experiences and feel empowered to take the next step. I believe therapy should be both a space for reflection and a practical tool for creating meaningful change.

I see my role as a therapist as one of transferring fundamental knowledge while cultivating critical thinking skills by applying theory and concepts to current health-, economic, - and industry-related issues. Through this application, areas that are void of knowledge will ultimately emerge. I offer an authentic presence within a collaborative, understanding relationship in which self-discovery can be non-threatening. I believe in practicing rigorously authenticity, surrounding the outcome, and doing uncomfortable work to reach the goals that we all want to achieve in life.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, constantly “on,” or like you’ve lost a sense of yourself, you’re not alone. Many of my clients—especially moms and caregivers—are used to holding everything together, but inside feel anxious, drained, or stuck in cycles of overthinking and burnout. I help people unburden what they’ve been carrying, reconnect with their strengths, and build motivation with routines that actually fit into their daily lives so they can feel more grounded, more in control, and more like themselves again.

You've taken the first step! I'm a licensed clinician and counselor in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Utah. I've always desired to understand feelings, behaviour, and the human mind; I've always been driven toward solving the questions that start with why. My passion for therapy began after realizing I was helping many clients with similar concerns related to identity confusion, limited self-awareness, and low self-confidence. Life can be pretty complex and sometimes presents us with challenges that require support in order to achieve balance and overall wellness.

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
