Anger Management Therapists in Fort Mitchell, KY
Hello there! My name is Nikki and I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Kentucky University in 2023. I have been passionate about advocating for mental health for as long as I can remember.
Working with me, the approach is straightforward: we all face challenges in life, often without the opportunity to express our true feelings. Many of us lack the space to discuss our mental health, even though human connection is essential for our well-being. This struggle to connect can lead to a lack of vulnerability.

I enjoy working with clients age 12-35 and helping them navigate through all the life events that those years seem to throw at us. I specialize in art therapy and also utilize techniques from CBT, DBT, and play therapy to give clients many different routes of expression and different ways to interact with me and seek help. I am currently accepting new clients.

Many of the clients I work with are people who feel like they’re carrying a lot. You likely hold yourself to very high standards, or maybe you feel responsible for fixing problems and keeping things running smoothly for the people around you. While these are great strengths, you feel over time they have lead you to feel anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected. You may find yourself wanting more balance, healthier relationships, and the ability to let go of constant pressure while still being the caring, capable person you’ve always been.

My passion for advocacy and a client-centered approach were cultivated in my early years as an educator, but my intellectual curiosity regarding the process of personal change and the value of interpersonal relationships motivated me to returned to NKU for a Master’s degree in Social Work. Since graduating with an MSW, I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of clients in diverse settings including a hospital, court-mandated program, and most recently an outpatient office and school-based office. I provide individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults, as well as families and couples.

Finding the right therapist isn't a one-size-fits-all process. It is important to find someone who you feel connected with. For that reason I do not charge for the first session if, for any reason, you decide not to schedule a second session. (Only after a second session will I charge for both the first and second sessions.) My goal is to make this process as stress-free as possible for you.
I work with a variety of client issues, but specialize heavily in coping with symptoms of anxiety, burnout, relationship issues, and depression. You're likely used to performing at a high level but lately things have felt much heavier.

You may have spent much of your life trying to separate yourself from your past, yet it still shows up in the way you think, feel, act, and relate to others. Old experiences can quietly shape how you perceive yourself, perhaps leaving you feeling not good enough, undeserving of connection, misunderstood, or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break. You may find yourself caught in the same painful loop, unsure of where you fit or how to feel like yourself again. I work with individuals navigating these challenges and an array of mental health concerns.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
