I work with a variety of clients: individuals, couples , and families.
What would your life be like if you woke up tomorrow and everything was just how you wanted it to be? What would be different? Therapy can help you identify and reach those goals. Whether your focus is individual, with your partner , or with a family member - the process can be beneficial and effective. My job is to help guide you through the choices, decisions, and communication patterns that are stopping you from making those improvements or changes. Therapy does not have to be intimidating or anxiety provoking. It can instead be an interactive, thought-provoking, learning experience.

While serving any adults and adolescents, my practice is focused on men who struggle with anger and who seek to better understand their emotions, adults who have had traumatic experiences, couples who seek to enrich their relationships through connection and healthy communication, and high school/college students navigating life transitions.
It is the case that life is rarely as we expect it to be and may seem more difficult and confusing than we can bear alone. You may expend a tremendous amount of energy holding it together or trying to maintain the appearance of perfection leaving you feeling depleted and unfulfilled. My hope is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you to help sort out your emotions, enhance your relationships, understand yourself, achieve goals, and facilitate healing.

One of the bravest things we can do is ask for help. Scrolling through profile after profile and trying to find the right therapist can be especially challenging. If you've found this page on your healing journey, know you are worthy of well-being. It can be overwhelming when you don't feel that's true, but that's where therapy can help.

I believe that we have to be able to live and deal with stress and issues in the present to achieve success, joy and peace that we seek. Life situations and/or Mental Illness can keep these from happening. Having that neutral person to be a support person can be what's needed . My specialty focus lies in dealing with Depression, ADHD, Marriage Therapy, Anxiety, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Infant loss, and Trauma. I have experience with kids, adolescents and adults. Approaches used are (CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gottman Method and Play Therapy) effective with children, adolescents and adults.

I believe therapy is most helpful when it combines introspection and self-discovery with planning and action. My goal as a therapist is to assist my client in exploring the "stuff" that seems to be getting in the way in his or her life. Once we know what the roadblocks are, they become easier to navigate or overcome. This work often leads to new personal insights or changes that serve to bring you closer to your personal goals.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
