Danielle Thrush is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a School Counselor with a Master of Science Degree in Community Mental Health and School Counseling from Fort Hays State University. Danielle specializes in working with children ages 4-13 in her private practice. Danielle was also in education for 14 years as a school counselor and teacher in Wichita Public Schools. While working with a specialized Positive Behavior Support program in Wichita Public Schools, Danielle gained experience in working with children exhibiting aggression, self-injurious behaviors, and many whom experienced severe trauma.

I specialize in working with young children and their families. I use age-appropriate interventions to assist children in working towards resolution of the emotional distress that drives problem behaviors. I work closely with parents to support them in learning to reconnect with their children on an emotional level. I work with autistic children and adults who struggle with anxiety and depression. I use a person-centered (and child-centered) philosophy of therapy. I have expertise in working with trauma survivors, especially relational trauma such as sexual abuse and abandonment issues.

Welcome, I am so glad you are here. You have just made your first step of the healing process. I am excited and thrilled to have worked with adults, children, pre-teen, and adolescents within clinical and educational systems across southeast Kansas. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work from Wichita State University and furthered my education by earning a master’s degree in social work from Newman University.

My areas of specialty include psychological assessment and therapy services for children and adolescents. I complete thorough assessments for ADHD, autism, learning disorders, developmental delays, mood, anxiety, and behavioral disorders. Reports include specific recommendations that emphasize and involve the child's strengths. In addition, I provide therapy for children and adolescents who are experiencing a variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties.

My practice centers on the needs of transgender, non-binary, lesbian, gay, bisexual and other LGBTQ+ spectrum community members and their friends and family. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and groups.

I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety and depressive symptoms related to trauma, relationship issues, medical issues, stress, and/or grief. I use an integrative and collaborative approach, emphasizing client strengths and choice throughout the therapy process.

As a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist through AASECT since 2005, I offer a dynamic and intensive relationship therapy/coaching experience. I have many years of experience diagnosing and treating a variety of sexually related issues, in addition to numerous other behavioral health issues, including mood disorders and substance abuse/addiction. I help individuals, couples, and families overcome life situations that bring on anger, anxiety, depression, and grief. I also help my clients overcome many other types of life issues. I specialize in anger management. Your anger can be fairly quickly resolved if you are motivated for change.
