I believe that in order to get the most out of therapy, the client needs to work in collaboration with the therapist. Our childhood and current stresses can affect our mental health. I grew up in Russia, and provide therapy in English and Russian. I work with clients ages 5 and up. I work with
family
systems that are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, trauma, and relationship and
family
issues. I have been trained in sand tray therapy and EMDR.

I enjoy working with people on: anxiety, depression, couple/
family
issues, and addictions (treatment of opiate, marijuana, and sex addictions are my specialties).
Talking (and listening!) are good ways to solve problems. People have been doing this for centuries, but few do it well. That's where I come in. My listening skills are fine-tuned, and I can help you to find where your blind spots are, if any, as well as help you brainstorm solutions to the struggles you are facing. I come from a Christian perspective, but I do not preach at people. I also come from a perspective that says there is always hope. That hope may not be visible yet, but it is there.

Drawing on my previous experience as a youth pastor, I enjoy working with children, teenagers, and young adults. As a play therapist, I have worked extensively with children who are struggling with ADHD and trauma. I also enjoy working with couples and families, and individuals who struggle with addiction, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues and PTSD. The challenge of parenting sparks my interest and I enjoy using humor, emotion coaching, and intergenerational systemic
family
theories to illuminate and strengthen the resources that parents already have to offer. I believe that solutions can be found by viewing obstacles as opportunities for repair.

Our challenges affect our thoughts, self-esteem, and can even begin to affect work,
family
, and relationships.
Life involves challenges that can leave us feeling unfulfilled, confused, or even inadequate. Each of us has the qualities and skills to face challenges and improve our lives. We are capable of and worth more than we give ourselves credit for. There are times when our challenges keep us from recognizing this within ourselves, and therapy proves beneficial. If you feel you are not prepared to handle your challenges, let's work together to identify solutions that will work for you and lead in the direction you would like to move.

Hard things happen in all our lives. Some by our own choosing and some very much not. In any of these moments, we often need someone else to guide us through as we rediscover our own strengths. I believe that therapy is a great step no matter how large or small you might consider your reasons for considering therapy.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
