My desire is to be a resource of safety and hope in the lives of individuals, couples and families as they are navigating difficult times in their lives; it is my belief that it is these painful and difficult times that can be the pieces of our lives that make us and our relationships stronger, healthier and beautifully unique. Most often clients already have the pieces of the puzzle within them to improve their situation and simply need a new perspective.

Problems such as depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties are treatable.
I enjoy working with highly motivated people who want to deal with issues such as depression and low self-esteem, anxiety and stress (including panic and trauma), and relationship problems. My goal is to help you feel better as fast as possible, and give you the understanding and tools so you don't have to struggle with these problems again in the future. Therapy is not just one size fits all. I use a variety of techniques to find what works for you, and to give you the most effective tools to help yourself. I get really excited about the dramatic changes I see in clients who are ready to do the work to get better.

Strong therapeutic relationship are built upon trust.
We think we have our life figured out and then boom, we have no idea what we are doing. Where we are going. Or why we are doing what we are doing. We feel lost and have no idea why. We start to question our decisions in life. And wonder, is this it? Is there more? There has to be more. It does not matter if you are 16, 25, 45 or 65. At some point, we ask ourselves what is the meaning of my life. How do I figure that out?

I believe that in order to get the most out of therapy, the client needs to work in collaboration with the therapist. Our childhood and current stresses can affect our mental health. I grew up in Russia, and provide therapy in English and Russian. I work with clients ages 5 and up. I work with family systems that are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, trauma, and relationship and family issues. I have been trained in sand tray therapy and EMDR.

I work with individuals, couples and families through their most difficult situations with empathy & compassion.
Do you feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world and just need a breath of fresh air? We all have times when we feel as though life is a drain and have trouble finding our purpose and living in true happiness. Sometimes we simply exist instead of discovering the real joy in our journey. Our relationships suffer because we’re not even happy with ourselves. So, how could we possibly be happy with others? How do we reach beyond the trauma in our past, pull through the pain in our present, and reach towards the hope of our future?

I believe that all families, couples , and individuals can be empowered to make change, and finding the therapist that believes in their story can help in that amazing process. Change is difficult, especially when people feel judged or shamed. I value the relationship I have with my clients and work hard to ensure that every client's story is taken seriously, and heard with respect, regardless of the situation.

I integrate the use of mind, body and spirit to provide a strength-based, systemically (relational) focused approach in working with individuals, couples and families.
I have a passion for working with all clients towards living a more authentic, enjoyable life. I believe that each person has a unique experience and therapy must be customized to meet those individualized needs. I work to create and hold a safe space for my clients that is non-judgmental, hopeful and encouraging. In taking a client-centered approach, I believe that vulnerabilities can be explored, strengths and resilience can be identified and meaningful change can happen. Even in the smallest change, true healing can begin.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
