I am a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist, with over a decade of experience working in Community Mental Health, volunteering time to share interests with community youth and families, working to serve individuals and their families across South Central Kansas.

I specialize in utilizing Play Therapy with children ages 6 and up. Utilizing attachment based therapy, Sand Tray therapy, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies I work with individuals, families, and couples. Trauma, abuse, behavior issues, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression are some of the major focuses of my work.

I believe that life is a journey. In this journey, life often has detours, obstacles and challenges that can lead us off our desire path. Together in therapy we will work together to begin to travel down the new desired path and journey in life. I use a client centered focus to meet you, the client, where you are and allow you to determine your goals and focus of therapy. I use traditional talk therapy techniques as well as hypnotherapy and mindfulness techniques.

The journey toward and through parenthood does not always go as planned. Some people struggle with infertility and face heartbreaking disappointment each month that goes by with yet another negative pregnancy test. Others experience pregnancy or infant loss and grapple with unbearable grief. For others, a new baby brings with it a sense of overwhelming anxiety and depression that feels impossible to manage. Whatever it is that you are struggling with, know that you are not alone. I know firsthand how difficult the path to parenthood can be and want to assure you that healing is possible, no matter how much you are hurting right now.

I am also a professional member of the International OCD Foundation, The TLC Foundation for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (trichotillomania, skin picking disorders, and other BFRBs), and am a certified Kids/Teen Yoga Teacher. Dr. Desirae Moreno earned her degree in clinical psychology from Wichita State University. She has experience working with a wide variety of clients including ages 3 through 65, male and female, various sexual orientations, various races/ethnicities, and various disabilities or impairments. Her extensive experience in a variety of work settings also allows her to understand issues from all angles. Dr. Moreno knows that the commitment to change can be exciting but also very scary. She works with clients to identify where they are in the stages of change and how she can best walk with them on their journey.
