If you are feeling stuck in a toxic
family
pattern, unable to move forward after caretaking a spouse or
family
member with mental illness, we can work together to reduce co dependency, honor grief or heal trauma.
Immediate openings available in the office or by telehealth. I offer therapy which focuses on helping adult women in all stages of life by reducing stress and healing trauma. Interpersonal relationships can be difficult to navigate and we can work together as you gain an awareness of old patterns and integrate new responses. Therapy addresses both attachment wound repair and trauma healing when presented in session. You will learn resources, skills and motivation for current unmet needs. I use an integrated approach of DNMS and EMDR with Self Compassion Therapy.

I have worked as a school counselor for the past several years and am now enjoying private practice as well. Counseling in a school setting has granted me the opportunity to work with my students and their
family
members. Exploring
family
systems and fostering an understanding between
family
members is one of my greatest passions. I also enjoy working with adults that are going through the many challenges and changes that life can throw at us. As the poet Mary Oliver so beautifully puts it "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? " —Mary Oliver

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” - Georges Seurat Pointillism is the art of creating a picture out of hundreds, thousands, or even millions of small dots. We as humans are like a pointillism picture, but rather than paint or colored pencil, our dots are made up of
family
, friends, school, work, beliefs, cultures, personality, preferences, and so much more. Every dot that makes up your life is important for positive change and growth.

You're smart, successful, and seem to have it all together...yet you've lost track of who you are and what you're feeling. You wear this emotional mask on the outside, but your internal feelings and conflict tell a different story. Perhaps you're the one everyone counts on:
family
, friends, significant other, coworkers. Or maybe you're just feeling saturated by the stress and demands of life. Either way, you feel alone and overwhelmed. You're not sure who will understand you since you can't make sense of it yourself. Self-care is not your norm, but you've come to realize something's gotta give. It is time for a change.

When the weight of relationship stress, emotional discomfort, loss, life transitions, etc. leaves you feeling unbalanced or unfulfilled, you do not have to carry it alone. It is my sincerest desire to carry it with you offering a process of emotional healing, exploration and self-discovery. As we journey towards a restored sense of balance and harmony, I encourage you through your process until you feel secure, connected and can experience peace.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
