I love working with individuals/
couples
/families of all kinds & relational structures (monogamy, polyamory, queer platonic relationships, etc).
It can be overwhelming to take the first step in starting your journey towards safety within your body/mind and in relationships with others (which can be crazy-making at times). But it doesn't have to be! Whether we are navigating the dating/hookup scene or already established relationships with ourselves,
partner
(s), our family of origin, or even the chosen family we must create, it can be really easy to get lost and struggle to find our way back to satisfying and fulfilling relationships. As a queer relational therapist, I can offer you unique insights and a safe space to process and heal.

I provide high-quality, confidential counseling services to adults and adolescents in a comfortable, private office setting. My treatment approach is solution-focused, and strengths-based. What this means is that I work in collaboration with my patients, drawing on their inner resources to discover solutions to the problems which face them.

When do you to take your car in for service? Warning lights or routine maintenance guide these decisions to keep our vehicles in optimal working condition. Without the required service, your vehicle will fail to operate. Relationships also stop working when we do not maintain them. Similar to vehicles, we often need additional assistance to get it up and running. Is your
relationship
due for a tune-up or a complete overhaul? Outside of a thorough assessment I will help individuals and
couples
navigate through their symptoms and relational stress by not only fostering insight, but encouraging an ability to tackle future obstacles.

I enjoy working with individuals,
couples
and families from a variety of backgrounds and concerns. As we roll up our sleeves in the therapy process, I am honored to get to know the individual(s), not just the problem, and their unique strengths and resources. Through therapy, people are able to reclaim their identity, break free from emotional bondage, and live the kind of fulfilling life which is determined by their own dreams and desires.

I am honored to have had the privilege over the past 20 years to work with many amazing people. I specialize in working with trauma and abuse, PTSD (including military and first responders). I also work with Depression, Bipolar, Anxiety disorders, OCD, and Adjustment disorders. I use a variety of treatment modalities, including EMDR, CBT, DBT, and art therapy, client centered; most importantly is the
relationship
and trust felt between the client and myself. I believe in the resiliency of the mind, body, spirit, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to walk beside those while they find their way to peace and happiness.

The work looks similar if it’s just you or if it’s you and your
partner
.
What is this therapy thing all about? It’s simple and hard at the same time and can be the best decision you’ll ever make for yourself. You talk, I listen. And together we open up the possibilities. We will explore what makes you you, and then decide what you want to keep and want you’d like to change. The goal is to help you feel closer to your authentic self while being able to love those around you in a deeper, more meaningful way.

I primarily use Solution-Focused therapy and Gottman
couples
therapy in my practice.
I help clients move though their issues and help them focus on where they want to be, not necessarily where they have been. In these times most clients already understand from where their pain and trauma stems. Real change takes work so clients should be prepared for homework and straightforward discussion. A client has to want to understand the process they are experiencing and be a part of their solution, since it is theirs to build upon. Communication is always important and learning new ways to do that is a key to success.

Everyday you go through life with a smile on your face hoping that you can simply keep it together. In passing, people ask how you are doing you give the standard answer: “I’m fine thank you”, but deep down you wonder if anyone will ever see past the smile, and past that standard answer. You think to yourself, “Will anyone ever see the pain that I am carrying? Does anyone see Me?” Does anyone even care?”

NOW Accepting NEW Clients! In person OR online. Grief can imprison our soul, mind & body. Spiritually this can trigger the darkness we courageously battle alone. When our soul is trapped within this darkness it can be difficult to navigate towards the doorway of freedom. Loss can take many forms-the death of a loved one or cherished pet, an unexpected medical diagnosis, the dissolution of a
relationship
, a miscarriage, even the loss of a body part or job. No matter the source of your grief, it is valid & real. True strength and bravery will always intertwine with pain, fear and loss. I will provide you with compassion and support.

Life can be overwhelming at times, leading to anyone becoming stuck. Stuck in relationships, stuck in day to day experiences, or even stuck wondering how it feels to be whole again. I believe there is hope in each individual that can be resurrected or revived through a healthy and compassionate therapeutic
relationship
, leading to one experiencing wholeness as they discover their strengths that help them to thrive. I strongly believe in providing empathic, safe, and non- judgmental space that allows individuals to process their thoughts, emotions, and experiences in the moment.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
