Parenting a child with baffling and challenging behaviors can be lonely and isolating. When I adopted my own children, I just wanted to be a mom. I thought that love was enough. The reality is, these children have suffered enormous loss and trauma and often display challenging behaviors. I am blessed that I am able to walk alongside families on their path to healing and share what I have learned. I have been a pediatric critical care nurse for 19 years. I have spent my career helping children and their families during what was most likely one of the most challenging and stressful times in their lives.

I've always been interested in mental health and how the brain operates in response to certain triggers. The most gratifying part of my job is helping others become their best selves. I treat OCD with compassion and patience. It's important to communicate and work together to improve symptoms. At NOCD, my team and I provide personalized and effective specialized treatment for OCD and related conditions, such as BFRBs (including skin-picking, nail-biting, and hair-pulling). Our understanding of the nuances of these conditions enables us to diagnose and treat them properly.

My passion is families, the building block upon which society is built. By healing families, we heal the world. I specialize in couples therapy, which improves not only the couple but the entire family as a result. I specialize in working with teenagers, helping them with depression, social anxiety, and life coaching. I specialize in treating trauma, a taxing burden that no one should have to carry through life, a burden that sadly so often goes untreated.

I am currently only accepting new clients for Assessments (ADHD, learning disabilities, Autism, mood disorders, etc). Do you feel stuck, or at an impasse in your current life? Perhaps the use of a substance or a behavior has become a larger piece of your life than you wanted it to. It could be that anxiety or depression have kept you from achieving what you want, or being who you want to be. Maybe you’ve had a change in your life that’s been difficult to handle. Perhaps your child/teen is having difficulty at home or in school. I have experience working with clients of all ages, and tailor my approach to each individual.

Who are you outside of being an athlete, employee, or boss. As a Mental Health Therapist and 10 years experience in Sports Medicine, I have worked with thousands of athletes, aiding in their physical needs to get them back to full capacity and into competition. Through my experience I have found that, whether on a court or in an office, individuals can only be their best if they are focusing on their entire health and wellness. Their mental game is as, if not more, important as their physical wellness in finding success. I focus on five factors of holistic health: creative, essential, social, physical, and spiritual.

Welcome! I'm Vicki, a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker dedicated to guiding you through life's challenges with compassion and insight. I view therapy as a nurturing process where each individual's path to healing and growth requires a supportive and enriching environment. Just as a seed relies on fertile soil, sunlight, and water to thrive, your emotional and mental well-being flourishes in a space that provides attention, understanding, and care. In our sessions, I aim to create a safe and encouraging atmosphere where we can explore and address your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Hoarding Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?

Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?

The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?

Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
