You're feeling exhausted and have more demands on your time and energy than you could possibly manage. Each morning you wake up and tell yourself, "Today it's going to be different," but by the end of the day nothing seems to have changed. Stress, anxiety , and depression have moved in, and it's hard to imagine a world where you don't feel this way every single day.

I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and somatic psychology into treatment for severe anxiety and trauma.
It takes courage to open our mouths and let out the words and emotions that terrify us, but that’s how we start to reclaim ourselves. It’s a sacred moment, when a client tells me “I’ve never said this out loud before”, yet there they are, spilling their pain and trusting me to hold it safely and carefully. It’s the moment when they realize they are not alone, that their story does matter.

I have experience supporting everything from depression, anxiety & relationships stuff to adjustment issues and work stress.
I think "moving on” from life's challenges isn’t easy; it doesn’t matter what actually happened/happening... getting over whatever is going on in your life is just hard. I think “moving on” actually means you have to move “through” & I provide a safe space for that to happen. I’m an experienced therapist who believes some topics deserve a deep dive & others are better tackled with solution-focused coaching. Over the years, I’ve helped people cope, heal, recover & basically “move on” from the hard stuff.

This experiences have provided me with knowledge about trauma, drug/alcohol abuse, anxiety , depression, and personality disorders.
Starting in February, I will have weekday evenings & weekends available! Challenges are apart of life, but overcoming those challenges can make life more meaningful. Learning how to believe in yourself and know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle, is apart of that process. When people experience trauma it can hold us back from being our true self. As your therapist, I will listen, empathize, and guide you to see your personal strengths. Those strengths will in return lead you to your ideal self.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
