Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when life feels heavy, confusing, or hard to manage on your own. I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can show up as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything figured out.

Sometimes life brings difficulties we never imagined we would have to deal with. These are situations, circumstances and events like parenting a difficult child, experiencing anxiety or depression, and problems at school, work, or home that we just don't feel equipped to deal with. Many of us expect ourselves to be able to resolve these difficulties and when we can't we feel defeated. Worry, distress, and apathy have run their course and now it's time to get help. I am sensitive to your situation and can help you find relief.

Are you a busy adult in KS/MO juggling anxiety, ADHD symptoms, and/or a history of trauma, whether parenting, working, retired, or managing daily life? You may come off blunt (or overly accommodating), frustrated by miscommunication, low self-worth, and relationships that falter despite obvious outward success. You want to speak authentically without damaging connections and finally feel confident in your own skin. You crave practical tools and a therapist who gets you, without nonsense.

We might be a good fit if any of these statements feel true for you: You wonder if you're Autistic and you want to understand that part of you more. You have anxiety in social settings, you struggle to connect with others, and you might even avoid social settings or cancel plans a lot. You grew up in a religious environment and have since left that religion or significantly changed your beliefs. You may be exploring deconstruction and religious trauma. You never feel like you fit in. You’re not sure you’ve ever felt a true sense of belonging. You want to understand how your childhood shaped you and how it impacts you today.

I work with individuals who want to better manage anger, stress, conflict, and the pressures of everyday life. Many of my clients are professionals, partners, and parents who feel successful in some areas but recognize their reactions, communication, or emotional patterns are impacting their relationships. Some clients come on their own looking for personal growth, while others are referred by courts, attorneys, or employers. Through honest conversations, accountability, and practical tools, we focus on building self-awareness, improving communication, and creating healthier responses.

Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT) Therapists
What should I expect from rational emotive behavior therapy?
The therapist will work with the individual to recognize rigid thought patterns that sabotage goals and set them back. The objective is to identify, challenge and reframe negative thoughts and enable an individual to understand that they possess control over their emotions and their behavior. This therapy often emphasizes the use of reasoning and self-direction.

Is rational emotive behavior therapy effective?
Rational emotive behavior therapy is evidence-based and is highly effective. It helps a person reframe self-defeating or catastrophizing thoughts and gives them tools to approach a range of circumstances they may encounter post-therapy as well. REBT can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.

When do I know if I need treatment with rational emotive behavior therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with rigid, unreasonable thoughts that dwell in negativity, they may feel stuck. A rational emotive behavior therapist can help a person examine and change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior. This concise and concrete therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

How long does rational emotive behavior therapy last?
REBT therapy treatment is short-term and focused in nature. It can last for a set number of sessions, ending within a few weeks or months. Like any type of therapy, however, sessions depend on the individual, as well as the severity of their condition or problem. The individual may wish to ask the therapist about typical progress and how long they expect treatment to take.
