Come join me at Heartland Therapeutic Riding, inc. for traditional therapy, in a non-traditional setting! Options include "Walk and Talk" sessions on our well maintained trails, working directly with horses during session, or just finding a quiet space at the farm to clear your mind and heal your soul.

I work with people struggling with balance, feeling a sense of meaning and fulfillment. Whatever their particular struggle, from interpersonal issues, trauma, changes in life, struggle with identity, emotive control and expression, and self-sabotage-to more extreme expressions of those issues resulting in self harm or suicidal thoughts, my goal is to help every person that I come in contact with build a life worth living. This is accomplished through targeted interventions tailored to that person, their concerns, personality and strengths.

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when life feels heavy, confusing, or hard to manage on your own. I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can show up as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything figured out.

You and those you love live in scary and uncertain times. You likely find yourself in a world you barely recognize, having to get by with more needs on fewer resources. We have all began to see the results of living under constant fight-or-flight stress while an entire world struggles to get by without needed coping skills, adequate financial resources, or knowing where to turn for guidance.

I am licensed in Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas, and I have past experience working with children and parenting strategies.
When you feel stuck in patterns you want to break—ashamed, overwhelmed, or not yourself, repeating behaviors you swore you'd change or feel like the “black sheep,” you end up feeling disconnected, hopeless and struggle to set boundaries and acknowledge your needs. You feel drained and tired. But you don't have to keep carrying this alone. Therapy can be a place where you begin to untangle those old patterns and rediscover who you really are. Together, we can work toward healing past hurts, building self-trust, strengthening your relationships, and helping you feel more confident and at peace in your own life.

“It’s like talking to a wall, everything I say gets an eye roll,” or “one minute they’re happy, the next they are furious,” and” they get upset over the smallest things.” You may have heard some of these expressions from pre-teens or teenagers. You may be thinking, “Is this normal, or could there be something else going on that I don’t know about?”

I’m Sydney Redding, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW/LCSW). I help teens, young adults, and adults who are ready to feel more grounded, confident, and in control of their lives. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in old patterns, exhausted from people‑pleasing, or unsure how to manage big life transitions. Others are professionals—teachers, nurses, social workers, therapists—or student‑athletes who are used to performing for others but haven’t had support for their own internal struggles. Whatever your experience, you deserve space to slow down, gain clarity, and build tools to help.

I work with individuals, couples, young adults, and parents.
Human behavior is complex. Humans search to solve their relational, family or mental health concerns and problems in one way or another. Some steps taken work better than others. My counseling work is designed around a study of the issues on your mind that concern you or others you care about. Together, we discover better, more balanced ways of addressing your concerns. You can think and feel better and in turn, be in better control of your life and the decisions you make.

As a Licensed Masters Level Psychologist (LMLP-T), I offer therapy and assessments grounded in a trauma-informed, relational approach. I help individuals and couples improve communication, understand emotional reactions, and reconnect with clarity and compassion. Often, we carry trauma we may not fully recognize, and we are trying to make sense of why we respond in the manner we do, or why we can't communicate what we feel. Sessions often include homework, real-life examples, and tools like active listening, reframing, and connection exercises to explore deeper patterns and promote lasting change.

You lay in bed at night wondering if your partner will ever see your pain. You feel alone, unimportant, unappreciated. You do not feel the love you once felt. Now it feels like you are just roommates. You try to talk with your partner about what is bothering you. But your partner either misses your pain or it turns into an argument. The two of you just end up further apart and more alone. You know you cannot do this anymore. The pain is too much.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
