I found my passion working with kids with Autism, at all levels. I have worked at a PRTF for 6 years as a therapist. Since being in private practice for the last 4 years, I have enjoyed working with clients of all ages with a range of struggles.

Hello! Thank you for visiting with me! Fostering “next steps” in all areas of life defines my approach to counseling. My experience with childhood loss, a pervasive family history of depression and anxiety, and a recent diagnosis of ADHD have created opportunities to learn and grow personally and professionally. Taking an individual approach to my clients grounds my decisions personally and professionally. I believe relationships and being understood is key to guiding therapeutic relationship.

I work with people struggling with balance, feeling a sense of meaning and fulfillment. Whatever their particular struggle, from interpersonal issues, trauma, changes in life, struggle with identity, emotive control and expression, and self-sabotage-to more extreme expressions of those issues resulting in self harm or suicidal thoughts, my goal is to help every person that I come in contact with build a life worth living. This is accomplished through targeted interventions tailored to that person, their concerns, personality and strengths.

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when life feels heavy, confusing, or hard to manage on your own. I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can show up as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything figured out.

Does anger, sadness or anxiety get in the way of your relationships, jobs or general happiness? I work with clients to process these feelings and the pain they can cause. We all carry baggage from our childhoods and pasts, worsened by the hardships we endure as adults and from the inevitable trials of daily life, but they do not define who we are. Anger is a common response to these issues but does not have to interfere with our lives. Having worked for over a decade as a first responder, I know first hand how trauma impacts us, especially in our ability to control impulses, frustration and anger. You do not need to suffer alone.

You and those you love live in scary and uncertain times. You likely find yourself in a world you barely recognize, having to get by with more needs on fewer resources. We have all began to see the results of living under constant fight-or-flight stress while an entire world struggles to get by without needed coping skills, adequate financial resources, or knowing where to turn for guidance.

It is a true honor to meet my clients in the therapeutic space. I am reminded each time I meet a new client of the immense bravery and vulnerability it takes to show up for yourself. I believe therapy can help to ground us in the present, while exploring the parts of ourselves that need attention. The therapeutic space can serve as a holding container, while the internal and external work happens. My vision is to offer a safe environment to express your thoughts and emotions while in connection with one another.

I’m a psychologist fueled by a deep sense of compassion and a desire to bring about real healing in the lives of my clients. Cultivating greater awareness in the mind, body, soul and spirit, I can guide you towards creating a more awakened and centered life. By learning how to reduce reactivity to events, situations and people, you can learn to respond consciously to the things you encounter and begin to create the life you want to live. This process can help move you away from reacting to life towards finding peace within yourself, and connecting more powerfully to your true life purpose.

I work with individuals who want to better manage anger, stress, conflict, and the pressures of everyday life. Many of my clients are professionals, partners, and parents who feel successful in some areas but recognize their reactions, communication, or emotional patterns are impacting their relationships. Some clients come on their own looking for personal growth, while others are referred by courts, attorneys, or employers. Through honest conversations, accountability, and practical tools, we focus on building self-awareness, improving communication, and creating healthier responses.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
