My experience with childhood loss, a pervasive family history of depression and anxiety, and a recent diagnosis of ADHD have created opportunities to learn and grow personally and professionally.
Ann's training includes Gottman Marriage Counseling, psychodynamic theory, character structure, EMDR, Rational Emotive Behavior theory, and somatic treatments. She places a high value on continued learning to support clinical practice.

You’re the one people turn to. The helper, the caretaker, or the friend who holds it all together. You may feel like your own needs have fallen to the wayside. Burnout, old trauma, or constant anxiety may be wearing on you, and you're looking for a gentler, slower way to live that feels safe and manageable. I work with clients 12+ who are drawn to nontraditional therapy, including holistic and animal-assisted approaches. Together, we’ll create a path that nurtures your heart, honors your pace, and supports your well-being.

Sometimes life brings difficulties we never imagined we would have to deal with. These are situations, circumstances and events like parenting a difficult child, experiencing anxiety or depression, and problems at school, work, or home that we just don't feel equipped to deal with. Many of us expect ourselves to be able to resolve these difficulties and when we can't we feel defeated. Worry, distress, and apathy have run their course and now it's time to get help. I am sensitive to your situation and can help you find relief.

If you are looking for a therapist to process and heal trauma wounds, I am here to walk alongside with you! Trauma is stored in the body and those physical sensations/body responses can feel extremely uncomfortable and unsettling. This can lead to anxiety, negative thoughts about yourself, low self worth, uncertainty, feeling unsafe, hyper vigilance, dissociation, hopelessness, etc. Through EMDR and mindfulness we work towards reducing those intense sensations and build self awareness and safety in the body.

Welcome, I'm Kasen Anderson, and I look forward to connecting with you! As I get to know someone, I use a person centered approach, which is a collaborative effort where I see you as the expert on your life and look for your feedback on what is best for you. I often check-in with those I serve to make sure we are on a positive path, and I can change my evidence-based approach to best fit your needs. I strive to build a foundation of trust with those I serve, so that we can create a safe environment to promote healing. I don't subscribe to one approach fitting everyone. We all need to be handled with care.

I believe change is possible for all of us, and I have seen that change develop in many clients over the course of a collaborative treatment. By working together we can develop a rich and fulfilling understanding of who you are and what you need from therapy. I'm trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and I use that frame to provide an environment that promotes awareness and growth. I've also used components of cognitive behavioral and dialectic behavioral services, and I blend these tools with the psychodynamic frame to provide an individualized approach.

Beginning with a deep respect for all people navigating today's world, I work with individuals, couples, and families from teen to golden years. By utilizing current evidence-based practices, I'll share the art and science of incorporating a curious, non-judgmental approach to understanding yourself and others. My approach incorporates ERP, DBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused, and trauma-informed care to help clients move to a state of what I call, "enthusiastic peacefulness".

Hello! I am so glad you are here. Sometimes we need help, guidance, and support through the different chapters of life. I strive to help restore the person you know yourself or your child to be. In my work, I meet clients where they are with empathy and no judgement. It is important to me to allow my clients to feel accepted and safe throughout our time together. A quote that aligns with my goals as a therapist is "Healing is not about fixing a broken person, but rather restoring who you truly are."

Well, because I too am on this ADHD rollercoaster .
Ever tried explaining the literal paralysis from constant overwhelm? What about explaining your lack of motivation as a symptom rather than a character flaw? It's a daily adventure! Neurotypicals might raise an eyebrow, but I nod knowingly. ADHD is not just about attention; it's about navigating a world that sometimes feels like it's set on fast-forward.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
