Life is a journey, and during the inevitable times when rocky waters toss us around, it helps to have a person in your life who has successfully navigated the rivers, and made it to the other side, where the waters are calm and smooth. I have always been the person people opened up to about what was bothering them. I was born to witness your journey. I am a professionally trained counselor and art therapist. I want to help you understand what has gotten you to this point in your life and determine where to go from there.

After a career of more than thirty years I believe therapy can be an adventure enhancing physical, emotional and spiritual well being. In addition to teaching clients how to determine life goals, and take small steps to reach them, I encourage creative expression through journaling, dream interpretation, the study of Myers-Briggs personality types and the Enneagram. A favorite book of mine is, "Women Who Run With the Wolves," by Clarissa Estes'.

Listen, therapy with me isn't going to be rainbows and sunshine. Mostly because your mental health isn't rainbows and sunshine, otherwise you wouldn't be looking for a therapist, right? You are looking for someone to see the dark, ugly parts of your mind, your thoughts, your experience and sit with you in that and say, "This makes sense to me." That's what therapy is with me. I'm going to validate that those spaces you retreat to are real, authentic and scary. I'm also going to walk with you as we move out of them into the experience that you are looking for out of life.

Seeking. We all want answers. To what? Most of the time it doesn’t seem like we know. What we do know is that something is missing. Whether you struggle with financial insecurity or relationship insecurity. Whether your mind can’t stop racing with thoughts and ideas, or you can’t make your way from your bed to your sink. There must be something more to this life. Ask someone how they found the answers, and they might suggest therapy. But where do we start? We start from a basis of trust and understanding. A safe space where you can feel free to express the ideas that scare you sometimes more than they scare your own family.

Therapy is a collaboration where we discover creative solutions to your problems, find strong clarity, and discover your truth and powerful, inner voice. I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit and the ability we all have to rise above adversity and intentionally craft our lives. My approach is eclectic and I use solution-focused, evidence-based methods in addition to traditional modalities such as mindfulness and somatic practices. Therapy isn't about finding out what is "wrong" with you. At the heart of it, it is about learning, understanding, and discovering the beauty and courage that has been inside all along.

Life is messy. Pain, fear, and feeling stuck happen. You might push through, numb out, or keep doing more. Until that no longer works. That’s when therapy can help. You’re not broken. You’re a complex, capable human who deserves more than just surviving. My approach brings the soul back to psychology, focusing on trauma-informed, depth-oriented healing rather than reducing you to symptoms or diagnoses. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), we’ll uncover subconscious patterns keeping you stuck and help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been silenced.

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
