We’ve all felt emotionally stuck, such as being depressed over experiences or traumas we had no control over (choice) or being overwhelmed with the thoughts of changing our story. Everyone deserves physical and emotional well-being no matter how uncomfortable the journey may be. So allow me to walk with you or create a space for you to heal, by processing the effects it's had on your life. I would like for you to have the capabilities to embrace a new you and outlook of your choosing.

Sometimes in life, we feel stuck, we don't know where to go, or we just feel confused. Therapy is a great place to start when tackling big - or little - life questions! A good working relationship between a client and their therapist is extremely important; due to this, I feel rapport building is one of the key elements in beginning the therapeutic relationship. My passion lies in working with family dynamic changes, daily life struggles, crisis, victims of trauma, and depression/anxiety.

I work with individuals facing challenges within their relationships (romantic, familial, parent-child, etc.), people in times of transition, those working through anxiety and depression, as well as children ages 2 years to 7 years with behavior issues and their families.
I firmly believe in the goodness in all and in the potential that each individual holds. My client-first approach shows this belief in practice: I meet my clients where they are and give them the tools to help them grow into the person they want to become. I use a collaborative approach in my work and facilitate each client’s healing process to help restore joy or identify and conquer obstacles that hinders potential.

Hi, I’m Elise, and I am glad you made it to my page. I understand that finding the right therapist can be a challenge, so I want to take a moment to share what you can expect during our time together. I will show up as myself to provide an authentic, warm, and non-judgmental space so you feel comfortable to be you. I will not pretend that life and relationships are easy, because they aren’t. Yet, every day I see changes and growth in clients because, with support and clarity, we can learn skills to communicate and build happy and fulfilling lives. There is emotional relief and rich knowledge that we gain as we turn inward.

If you’re experiencing conflict within your family or facing personal struggles with your mental health, please know you are not alone. A 2020 case study revealed that symptoms of depression and anxiety tripled among adults during the pandemic, with a noticeable rise in relationship and family conflicts as well. These challenges can feel overwhelming, and while reaching out for help may be one of the hardest steps to take, it can also be the most life-changing.

Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?

PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?

In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
