No matter how much you try to hash it out, resolution and relief are out of reach. Your relationship now has more grudges, anger, resentment, and distrust than you can tolerate. The wounds are deep and layered upon wounds of relationships past. At times, it even feels like you're worlds apart, and the more you try to get the other to understand, the gap only widens. It's exhausting to be on edge with each other, bracing for the next escalation of blame and shame. You're over trying to keep the peace. Instead, you're longing to feel the safety and connection.

I am passionate about helping people get "unstuck" and "out of their own way." Sometimes, that means unpacking past trauma, learning to identify and express emotions, or simply giving ourselves permission to do something different than we've always done. Let me help you learn new strategies and a more effective way to resolve conflict.

I specialize in OCD and sex therapy, and where the two overlap. I work with obsessive themes of all kinds— from germs to relationships and existential concerns. But if you’re anxious about the types of thoughts you’d prefer to never tell another living soul— like hurting people, pedophilia, sexual orientation, incest…that sort of thing— I’m definitely the right therapist. That stuff is my speciality. You’ll be surprised how easy it will be to talk to me about it.

Hello, I'm Angela. I began my career in marriage and family therapy after raising three children and following my military husband around the world. My journey into this field was driven by a deep desire to support military families, including couples counseling, divorce, and blended families. For several years, I concentrated heavily in this area, and in the last three years, I have shifted my focus to working with military veterans, particularly in trauma work. Additionally, I have expanded my practice to counsel a wider population of people through online formats. I am trained in EMDR, CPT, CBT, Attachment, and often use ACT.

We all need to be seen and understood, and it’s my goal to make therapy a space where that happens. I approach therapy from a place of getting that it's important to make sense of your experiences, know & feel that you are valid, & have a way to move forward feeling grounded in your authentic truth. I often work with people who have experienced trauma in relationships, a lack of emotional support in childhood, religious trauma, and marginalization. I can help with if you've been struggling to make changes you want in your life and relationships, have been overwhelmed by emotions, or don't ever know what you're even feeling.

“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be” -Wayne Dyer. Do you ever feel like you're not actually living your life? Are you too stuck in your own mind with worry, regret or doubt? Maybe past experiences are getting in your way. Causing you to form negative beliefs about yourself. Leading to perfectionism, frustration, self-judgement and feeling depleted. Do you get stuck in cycles overthinking the past or fearing the future? Making it difficult to move forward. Are you actually missing out on what being alive truly means and the experiences it has to offer?

We all need a little help sometimes. You are not seeking therapy because everything is going well—you are seeking support because something hurts inside. You may feel anxious, depressed, hopeless, lost, or scared. You might be grieving, struggling with low self-esteem, or feeling unsure of who you are. You may even feel broken, especially when the things that used to help no longer seem to work. Everyone deserves a safe, nonjudgmental space to be heard and supported through their darkest moments. My goal is to provide a space to walk alongside you rather than tell you who to be or how to feel. You do not have to do this alone.

My name is Dr. Caleb Stephens, and I am an Intersectional Clinician. The reality of therapy is that it is inaccessible to most, and the majority of therapists gear their therapy around themselves, and not around the needs of the client, nor the layers of identity that exist. I am not a traditional therapist, as I am also a community organizer and educator.

I work with adults and couples who are experiencing conflict, emotional distance, or patterns in their relationships that feel difficult to change. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in cycles of misunderstanding, disconnection, or stress that affects their ability to feel close and secure in their relationships. In our work together, we focus on understanding these patterns beneath the surface and creating new ways of communicating, repairing, and connecting. My approach is attachment-based and relational, integrating EFT and the Gottman Method.

Open Relationships Non-Monogamy Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a therapist specializing in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
A client seeking help with an open or consensually non-monogamous relationship will prefer to talk with a professional whom they can count on to be nonjudgmental. Talking with a supportive therapist may on its own help relieve some of the stigma and challenges partners face. That said, the most important factor in the success of any type of therapy is the ability of the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond. For this reason, an individual or couple could find success with a therapist who does not specialize in non-monogamous relationships but with whom they can build trust.

When should open or consensually non-monogamous partners seek counseling?
Like other couples, polyamorous partners typically seek counseling when they face relationship challenges they can’t solve themselves. In non-monogamous relationships, this could include breaches of trust, including infidelity; unclear rules or violations of boundaries; jealousy of outside partners; the stress of juggling the needs of multiple partners; or the effect of high partner turnover on children. Like those of other couples, polyamorous bonds can be threatened by increasingly frequent arguments, poor or dysfunctional communication, diminished emotional or physical intimacy, or the feeling that something is wrong, even if they don’t know what it is.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
No, but individuals seeking help with non-monogamous relationships would most likely consult a licensed professional with specific training in couples counseling or couples therapy. Couples counseling and couples therapy both involve teaching concrete strategies to navigate conflict in relationships. A good therapist can engage both partners as they explain these approaches but can also work with a single partner.

How long does therapy for consensually non-monogamous couples typically last?
Couples therapy for any type of couple, tends to be relatively time-limited, lasting around 12 weeks on average. A good therapist will tailor sessions to the individual partners’ emotions and sometimes their past, along with patterns found to be repeating in the relationship. In many cases, clients should expect their therapist to assign “homework” between weekly sessions.
