Especially those who have endured domestic violence from their partner and are wanting to explore what a healthy relationship is and building their self-esteem.
Therapy can be a nervous process, but I’m so glad you are making the decision to take the first step into your healing journey. I’m here, to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can be vulnerable and your true authentic self. You may not have the words to describe the emotions you are feeling and that’s okay, we will figure it out together.

Whether you're dealing with relationships issues, anxiety and depression, or domestic violence, my experience and certification lends way to healing.
(I'M ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS) Your world is falling apart and you wonder if anyone cares. Your best efforts are failing and all appears hopeless. Or maybe it's that your relationship has become more toxic and you're asking yourself, "Can this relationship be saved"? Maybe you've been suffering in silence and you're at your wits end. Or perhaps your love for that special someone has blossomed and you're ready take the plunge but you just don't know if it's the right thing to do. A non-judgemental listening ear is what most of us long for especially if life hasn't been so kind to us. No matter what your situation is, don't give up!

I have extensive experience working with men, women, families, teenagers and young children impacted by trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, abuse, and hopelessness.
Sometimes in life, we feel stuck, we don't know where to go, or we just feel confused. Therapy is a great place to start when tackling big - or little - life questions! A good working relationship between a client and their therapist is extremely important; due to this, I feel rapport building is one of the key elements in beginning the therapeutic relationship. My passion lies in working with family dynamic changes, daily life struggles, crisis, victims of trauma, and depression/anxiety.

I work with clients who want to change unhealthy relationship patterns like co-dependency, explore their identity, manage anxiety/stress, and recover from trauma or domestic violence
Anxiety, depression, hurt from relationships, and current stressors can make day-to-day life feel like quicksand. You're unable to move forward to the life and freedom you want no matter how hard you try. You may feel confused and overwhelmed, not knowing what will help or where to start. Or maybe you have some ideas of what needs to change, but can't understand why you can't make it happen. Sometimes all we need are the right tools and someone who listens with caring and empathy to help us really move forward in a lasting way.

Life can be messy at times. We can get overwhelmed by everyday events, unexpected surprises-both good and not so good- and the expectations of others around us. In some cases, we're still dealing with the past and can't even begin to solve today's issues.

Each one of us have our own life story. In this story there could be pain, hurt, regret and happiness. As a therapist for over 30 years I have heard many stories of people at different life stages. As your therapist, I want to learn your past and present story to hear where you have been and then help you write your next chapter for a healthy future. This is done by setting goals to know where you are headed. I would love the opportunity to help you write a best selling novel of your life.

We all go through transitions in our lives and seeking help sorting things out can be very challenging and overwhelming. It is my role to listen while providing you a safe place to explore your feelings and why you think the way you do. From a young age I have known that I wanted to be in a helping profession. I have long been fascinated by the power and mystery of the mind and its connection to our bodies. In college, I realized social work was the discipline for me and I avidly pursued a clinical track at the University of Kansas. I am particularly passionate about working with children of all ages and find immense joy in connecting younger ones via their language, which is play.

Life is beautiful and full of struggles. You do not need to face these alone. Sometimes, just having someone to sit with you can have a huge impact. I would love the opportunity to be the person sitting by your side, or walking next to you along this journey.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
